Update on AMD64 chip running at 12C ... (sigh) by Wayne @ W.
Well, after some research I have found that my mobo has a BIOS problem. This was reported on several sites that did a review of the Chaintech VNF3-250, and all of them report the CPU temp given by the BIOS as being way too low. One reviewer even said his showed 6c LOL. (42F for those that want to...

PCI Lock. is it really needed? by Wes Newell
I think not considering the dividers used today. Consider that running the default 200MHz has a divider of 6. So take it up to 217MHz and the PCI speed is still less than 36MHz. I don't know of any half way decent PCI hardware that won't run on a less than 10% overclock of the bus. All of mine will...

My new AMD64 3200+ runs cooler than my AMD 2600+ by Wayne @ W.
This chip runs cool. It runs at 12 to 17 c While my AMD Barton 2600+ non-overclocked ran around 35 to 43 C. Same case, but better power supply. ::o) Now I am waiting for Chaintech to upgrade the bios for this new Nforce3 N250 mobo to allow me to disable the onboard Nic, as it is my only hold up...

Asus K8V SE Deluxe Question and Advice Requested by AU
Does anybody own or have any experience with the Asus K8V SE Deluxe motherboard? I know that the first version of this board (not SE) had some issues, and it seemed like it was more than just bad capacitors on limited shipments. Though the Asus K8V Deluxe earned many positive reviews...

Memory Questions K8V by Tim M.
Doing a slow build and need some advice....finally down to the last two pieces of puzzle. Already decided on the A64 3200+ , now I need some memory. I want to install 1GB, 2 512's preferrably. I'll go with either PC3200,3500, or 4000, doesn't really concern me since I'm not a avid overclocker. ...

FIC SD11 max. HDD size by mfischer
Hi there I'm more than interested in conclusions concerning maximum hard disk size running on FIC SD11 based systems (1st Gen. Athlon) without additional hardware controllers. So far I've been told there might be some problems with HDD greater than 80GB? Can anyone confirm? Thanks so far, Regards
