What do all these memory related BIOS settings actually mean and do!? by
Steven O.
As discussed in another post, I recently put together a new PC with
the ASUS A8N-E Motherboard. The MB has the NVIDIA nForce 4 Ultra chip
set, and a Phoenix-Award BIOS (Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG, 04/07/06,
also listed as ASUS A8N-E ACPI BIOS Revision 1013). The processor is
the AMD Athlon 64...

How to buy a San Diego 3700+ rev E6 by
[email protected]
I'm interested in building a new system with an Asus A8N-SLI Premium
motherboard and an AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego. Unfortunately, the
Asus site lists only the 3700+ rev E6 (not E4) as being supported. How
can I buy an E6? I called newegg tech support, and they couldn't tell
me what rev...

an AMD Athlon 64 3200 venice cpu brand-new from retail box and some

Athlon 3400+ running slow? by
Bob Robertson
Hey guys, I upgraded my system this weekend from an XP 2000+ to an A64
3400+ and gigabyte motherboard. I ran some games and didn't see a huge
difference so I decided to run 3dmark on it (BTW I have a 6600GT which I
would have thought would be cpu limited with the XP2000+). The 3dmark
score is...

Another 64-bit newsgroup by

Hi!
I chanced upon this newsgroup while I was desperately looking for help in
using my 64-bit commercial Fujitsu Siemens computer, and I must say that you
folks really know your computers and I've received a lot of help and
encouragement. I've also recently found another Internet newsgroup...

Recommendations for replacement 754 MB? by
/mel/
I'm fed up of this Winfast/Foxconn K8S755A/755A01 motherboard. It refuses to
run the RAM at DDR400, and I cannot stop it from trying to boot off USB
storage if I forget and leave them plugged in.
So, any recommendations for 754 motherboards? I have spare NICs and PCI
audio, so all I really need is...

Performance gain with Windows XP x64? by
Pete
How much of a performance improvement can we expect on an AMD64 CPU running
Windows XP x64? Should we expect any performance gain on 32-bit
applications/games running on a 64-bit OS like x64?
Also, anyone have any more specific idea than "first half of 2005" as to
when Windows XP x64 will be...

Athlon64 2800+ by
NewsGroupie
Greetings,
I've been a fan of AMD since the K5 days (Intel before that) and am in the
process of upgrading from a Duron 1400+ Pro @ 1.01 GHz with 512 MB of DDR to
an Athlon64 2800+. I'm only upgrading the mainboard itself, and it's a cheap
one being the ECS 755-A2. So cost is an issue. My first...

I'm building an AMD64 system. So far I've hooked up:
Asus A8N-SLI Mobo

Thermalright XP-120 heatsink
Antec NeoPower 480 power supply
2x512Mb DDR400 PC3200 DIMMs
eVGA nVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT PCI Express video card
I thought I'd power it up and make sure everything so far was working

AMD64 3400 by
[email protected]
Hi all.
I just bought an AMD64 3400 CPU. So, I installed SUSE and it all works
great. However, on bootup the BIOS says that the CPU is only 2400 MHZ.
Also, in Suse, the sysmonitor shows the MHZ at 2403.
The only thing that displays my CPU speed as 3400 is MySQL Admin
Console.
Have I been...
