Maximum Memory - CPU Related? by IFlyJava
Dumb question (apparently, since I didn't find anyone else asking it :) I have an AMD 1800+ CPU on an older main board which has a maximum of 1 GB. I find a few less old SocketA MBs with capacity for 2 GB. If I put it there, is it safe to assume that that processor can access the 2 GB?

Maximum RAM for XP Pro 32-bit SP2 by Scotter
Hi - My motherboard supports 16 gig RAM. I'm currently running 4 gig (this particular motherboard has 4 slots per processor so I'm at 2 gig per processor). The OS is reporting 2.75 gig when I right click on "my computer" because of a "memory hole" set up automatically in BIOS. I am using the /pae...

Maximum temperature for an Athlon XP 64 ? by Peter Smirnov
I would like to verify if my CPU-fan/cooler is not able to cool down my AMP CPU Athlon XP 64 3500+ Venice core. Maybe the temperature sensors are defect. However what is the maximum temperature at which an Athlon XP 64 CPU can operate reliable ? Peter

MB & CPU Temperature by Terere
My Athlon XP 2000+ (Thnderbird, I think) runs at 77 degrees Celsius during film conversion and MB stays at 35 degrees. I read at AMD that this CPU can get up to 90 degrees. My MoBo is an ASUS A7S333. My case has got a front fan pushing fresh air into the box and a lateral fan pulling the air out....

MB options? by Keith
Looking to build a new AMD system, using 939 socket. Probably will go with a dual-core CPU and 2 gig RAM. In the past I've always been I diehard ASUS fan, but looking at the ASUS message boards, I'm seeing stability and performance issues that worry me a little. Maybe all 939 boards have these...

Hi folks, Quick question... the subject software is default on x64 Win XP. Unfortunately on my system it does not work at all. This may or may not be caused by codex package that I installed? Anyway MP10 will not even play WMV files now let alone AVI or MPG. Does anyone know if there is a way...

Memoery speed with Athlon 64 X2 3800 by SteveB[_2_]
After the first upgrade (full system build) in 5 years I have found my knowledge of PCs to be sadly lacking !!! I have 2 gigs of DDR2 PC5300 (667MHz) on an AUS AM2 mboard with an Athlon 64 X2 3800+ SiSoft Sandra reports the memory running at 333Mhz. Is this likely to be right and a) could I...

Memory footprint on running system by Vermyndax
I noticed a few weeks ago that the published system requirements for WinXP 64 is contains the directive of 1.0gb RAM. I thought it was a misprint, but I just revisited the article and it does indeed still say this. I do have 1.0gb of RAM, so that's not the issue... what I'm wondering is... have...

I have an Asus K8v-X mobo with an AMD athlon 64 3000 cpu in it. I have two matched DDR400 memory sticks of 256 each. The board has one blue slot, and two black slots. The manual says use the blue slot first, then add to it by putting more memory in the black slots. Using Everest to monitor the...

Memory Questions K8V by Tim M.
Doing a slow build and need some advice....finally down to the last two pieces of puzzle. Already decided on the A64 3200+ , now I need some memory. I want to install 1GB, 2 512's preferrably. I'll go with either PC3200,3500, or 4000, doesn't really concern me since I'm not a avid overclocker. ...

memory speed loss dual core by pcuser#1
Hello. I just recently upgraded CPU on my system from Athlon 64 3500+ (Winchester) to 4200+ (Manchester). My memory bandwidth went from 74% efficiency to 64%. I use Corsair Value (2.5-3-3-8) dual channel. Why the mem bandwidth is slower on dual than on single core? Thanks for any info.
