X2 cooling advice by
Don Burnette
I am about to order some parts from Newegg to upgrade my system, will
probably go with the MSI K8N Neo 4 Platinum, and an X2-4400 processor.
Are the heatsink/fans that come with these new X2 processors sufficient, or
is there a better one that I should get?
Thanks,

Sempron 64 Heatsink Mounting by
Ed Light
Question about the heatsink that comes with Sempron 64's.
What sort of mounting arrangement does it have? Clips with a latch to
tighten it, by any chance?
Would a 70 to 80mm adapter likely mount up ok?

Dealer recommendation for a tested mobo/CPU/memory combo ? by
Al Dykes
I'm beginning to plan my new system and it will be a dual core AMD64.
I can assemble it from parts myself, but this time I'd just as soon
find a dealer that will sell be a CPU/mobo/memory combo as a tested
assembly.
I've got a case, PSU and the rest of the parts on hand.
Does any mailorder parts...

Ceramique Again by
Ed Light
Note: posted concurrently to
alt.comp.hardware.overclocking.amd
alt.comp.hardware.amd.x86-64
To the unbelievers ;-)
I've found some tests of Arctic Ceramique which tend to show that it does
indeed work better than lots of other stuff. Most of the tests don't give
the compounds time to break in....

System rebuild advise by
WooHoo2You
Currently I am running:
Athlon 3200+ 64
2x512 ram
The mother board in my current rig tops out at a 3400+ and one gig of ram, I
am leaning toward getting a new Asus A8N-SLI modo, is the deluxe worth the
extra cash. (I mostly play 3d games on my PC)
What I would like to avoid is my new setup...

Opteron's. what type of memory? by
Bruin
Can a AMD Opteron 148 run with regular DDR memory? AMD's site says ECC RAM
only. Also, can you drop one of these babys into any socket 939
motherboard?
Anyone running one of these on a ULi M1695 motherboard (as in ASRock's)?
Seems too good to be true, a bit of an overclock & it would be equal...

Hi,
I've just bought a new system and have been having problems with it
from the start. First i used to get BSOD nv4_disp.dll problems while
playing BF2, after installing everything from scratch and installing
the lastest Chipset and GPU drivers the problem went away for a couple
of days. Now...

XP Pro x64 recommendations? by
***** charles
Hi all,
I would like to upgrade an old computer and put XP Pro x64
in the new machine. Does anyone have a good "shortblock"
(cpu/fan, mb and ram) recommendation that is stable and
has a lot of headroom for expansion?
thanks,
charles.....

amd 2400 passive cooling by

Hi,
I have a AMD 2400 which is cooled by a fan.
The case has a 400 watt psu and a 120mm fan.
Is it possible to cool this processor passively?

Water cooled AMD 64 systems by
Vince Coen
Hello All!
Can someone explain the basic setup for a water cooled system as well as the
justification over a standard heat sink / fan combination?
Do you plug it into the mains cold water supply?
What volume of water is used per day?
Thanks,

fried mobo? by
Dennis Gamblin
I installed a athlon 2000+ in a GA-7ZX mobo (which was running with a 900
mhz processor) and got no post or beep codes, only fans and a green light
on the board respond. I found out later that the 2000+ was shorted(0 ohms
on the multi-meter). Now the Ga-7zx will not post and there are no beep
codes...

New Sempron user question by
StoneyStude
Hi,
This AM, I started on building my new system with an Asus K8 MB and a
Sempron 3100. Going over the instructions on installing the CPU, it
states you must "use the correct thermal transfer medium or damage to
the processor will result".
The only things in the box were the CPU and the heat sink...
