Cool 'n Quiet by
bards1888
can anyone cofirm/deny that cool'n quiet only works in 64 bit mode,
under linux specifically. I have tried Centos 4.2 (Redhat Clone) and
when I install the i386 version it does not throttle the CPU (cat
/proc/cpuinfo shows the CPU always at maximum speed) however on the
64bit version the CPU slows...

Dual Core Compatibility by
Harkhof
I'm looking at the 4400+ X2 and need to know if this cpu is compatible with
my
MSI MS-7025 (NEO2 Platinum). MSI's site shows that, as of BIOS version 1.9
(the 2nd latest), support was added for the AMD E6 cpu. Is the dual core in
the E6 family? Has anyone installed the 4400x2 in this...

Quiet Nforce3 Chipset Fan? by
No Spam
I've got an MSI NForce3, socket 939 motherboard, and the chipset fan is
very loud. It's a media center PC, so noise is bad, very bad!
Can anyone recommend a quiet replacement? Or offer any other suggestions?
Thanks!

Sempron 2800+ Revision DH-E6 VS E6 by
[email protected]
I'm using AMD Sempron 2800+ 64bit. I've seen many screenshots from the
users who are using the same CPU. What I noticed was, their revision is
E6 but mine is DH-E6. Is there any difference between E6 and DH-E6?

What are the differences between the different Venice chips? by
bucky
I was wondering: In a thread in a different forum, someone pointed out to
me that there are Venice Revision E3, E4, and E5 etc. chips. What are the
differences between them, and why would I need a newer BIOS for the newer
ones? Do they have different voltage, RAM, etc. parameters?
TIA!

Board doesn't see all of ram. by
Wes Newell
Bought an ECS 755-A2 with a Sempron 2800 CPU and it only sees 256M of a
512M stick of double sided ram. Haven't tried upgrading bios yet and was
just wondering if anyone else here has seen a problem similar? The manual
says it supports double rank ram. This ram worked fine in an old socket A

SSE3 by
Wolfe
For models of AMD Athlon 64 and 64 X2 and Opteron which implemented SSE3, is
this a FULL IMPLEMENTATION of the SSE3 instruction set or just a partial
subset? I seem to be getting different answers depending on what I read.

Maximum RAM for XP Pro 32-bit SP2 by

Hi -
My motherboard supports 16 gig RAM.
I'm currently running 4 gig (this particular motherboard has 4 slots per
processor so I'm at 2 gig per processor).
The OS is reporting 2.75 gig when I right click on "my computer" because of
a "memory hole" set up automatically in BIOS. I am using the /pae...

Removing heatsink from A64 by
Cal Vanize
I had to remove the AMD heatsink from an Ath64 in the past as part of an
RMD on a motherboard only to have the chip stuck firmly to the heatsink.
This resulted in pulling the chip out of the socket under force. I
was lucky that the CPU still worked after than kind of stress.
I'd rather not repeat...
