pshufb by [email protected]
For some reason, the pshufb instruction does not work on my AMD Athlon 64. I tried it in 32 bit mode, and I get an illegal instruction message from Windows. According to this: http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/ProductInformation/0,,30_118_9485...

The air coming out of the case fan is cooler than the PS fan. It must be an issue with Asus Probe II

CPU Upgrade by Travis King
I currently have a Sempron 64 2800+ (Socket 754) overclocked to 1.99GHz by bumping the FSB up to 249. I'm considering upgrading my old 754 system to the Athlon 64 3700+ 754. (If I can find it and at a reasonable price - any ideas where? Not much luck with eBay.) Keep in mind that the system...

AMD 5600+ runs too hot - why? by surface9
I just built an AMD 5600+ system (with the heatsink/fan that came in the retail box) and when I was just going into the bios screens it heated up to over 80C - why? The CPU fan was running good and strong and the heatsink was too hot to touch - it nearly burned me when I just tapped it. I had to...

New quads and the sockets in which they will work? by ***** charles
Hi all, I would like to get a single socket motherboard now that will take the quads that come out shortly. Is this even possible? What I am hoping for is a 1000 like opteron quad that will run at or near 3.0 GHz and throttle down to low power sleep mode when not doing anything. Is there...

Best heatsink/fan for amd 5600+ by surface9
My new 5600 runs just fine (35c-42c), but it is a bit loud (not too much, just a little bit). What is the best aftermarket heatsink/fan that will be quieter and at least as good at cooling?

Win98SE AM2 mATX board? by surface9
Don't laugh! The only way I can install either win2k or winxp (from the "upgrade" CD's I have) is from an existing win98 or winnt. I don't have winnt, but, I do have win98, so, in order to install winxp (or win2k) I first install a blank win98 and the pop in my "upgrade" CD. But the MSI...

Mobo Brands and models, good and bad by Al Dykes
I'm in the market for an AM2 socket system and I may have some opertunites where I can't research the specific make and model before I take my chances and buy something. I'm looking to run w2k on with an X2 CPU. I'd prefer an all-on-board mobo that can support an extra card for a second monitor,...

What's a reasonable CPU temp? by Lee M.
For an Athlon 2700+ (T-bred) in a lightly loaded system? The 1800+ I just replaced ran about 43-45C with room temps up to about 80F. The 2700+ shows 49C after 45 min with a room temp of 74F. Can I assume anything below 60C is fine? Thanks.
