Do all Dell PCs (for the UK market) come with Dell's own

I am thinking of getting a Dell but I don't want to find that it uses
a Dell proprietary motherboard that may have little technical data
available.
ISTR hearing that Dell used a non-standad wiring on...

8KNXP has no USB 2.0 by
KatManDEW
Hello;
I have a 8KNXP that is 1 1/2 years old and it appears that my USB
prots are not 2.0. I assume this means I need a BIOS upgrade (I have
version F5). I have a SATA mirrored SIL set. When I check the BIOS
updates it says;

Note! If your OS (like WinXP) is already installed on SATA...

Lockup playing AVI file with pivoted display by
Russell May[_2_]
My 2002-vintage computer has a recently-installed CPU and LCD display.
The computer locks up with the display pivoted 90 degrees via
irotate.exe while playing AVI files using Nero ShowTime, producing a
medium-high-pitched sound. The lockup seems to happen only when the
display is pivoted. Nero...

8knxp, Audigy or Onboard sound? by
Josh Palmer
I just ordered an 8knxp, so i dont yet know whether i'm getting
revision 1 or 2. Either way, I was planning on using my audigy mp3+
5.1 card that I already had. Does anybody out there know whether the
audigy mp3+ is a better card than the onboard sound chip? I assume so,
I also imagine it would be...

System Keeps Rebooting GA-8IK1100 by
juzuz
Hi,
I just put in a new mobo and cpu in my system. I'll give the specs below.
When I boot up, it POSTs, properly detects my hard drives and cd-roms and
then it goes to a prompt that tells me Windows did not properly load on the
previous attempt. It asks me to select from normally starting...

Dear Motherboard Gurus.... tell me if ... by

Dear Motherboard Gurus.... tell me if ...
.... it would do any harm to plug in a CPU of a higher FSB rating than
the MOBO is designed for ?
My mobo has a fsb rating of 400MHz but my P4s rating is 800Mhz.
I personally feel it woud do no (physical) harm except, perhaps,
to 'pull down' the P4's...

440 chipset and hard drive limitation by
Moritz Kürten
Got a note from Gigabyte tech support saying that their old GA-6BXE
motherboard does not support hard drives larger than 75 GB because
of a limitation in the 440 BX chipset which it uses.
Is this actually true? I have not come across a 75 GB limit.
No, it isn't true and Gigabyte knows...

Frustrated with GA-8IK1100 performance....HELP! by
Rich Heimlich
Guys,
I've about had it with my choice in buying this motherboard. Either it
stinks (which I don't think), is defective (possible) or I've goofed
something.
It has never felt any faster than my Athlon XP 1800+ system with 512k
RAM and a Radeon 8500.
I now have this board with a Radeon 9800 Pro...

I am looking at helping my bro build a budget mid-range gaming PC for my

To keep costs down I was thinking of going the AMD route to get good
performance for a lower cost. The last while I have been all Intel so I
am out of the AMD and thought to pose the question to the...

GA-8KNXP, how to configure BIOS for SATA? by

I have two Seagate 160GB SATA HDDs in RAID-0 config on the same board.
First drive is mapped to SATA Port 0 and the second one is mapped to SATA
Port 1 (that's on the ICH5R Intel Chipset, not the Silicon Chipset). I'm
not in the BIOS right now but there is an option to I believe under
