D875PBZ BIOS/setup problems by
Phillipicus
Hi,
Just purchased on of these boards and installed it. The machine boots
up to the display screen (reads board serial number and BIOS P20
version), detects memory, keyboard, USB, and mouse, and displays
messages "Hit F2 if you want to run setup" and "Hit F12 if you
want to boot from...

Need some help with using Intel Application Accelerator by
Warren
I've been having trouble trying to figure out why my PC won't play DVD
movies.
One issue that a number of sites have told me is to ensure that DMA is
enabled on my DVD_ROM drive (for that matter all devices including hard
drives). When I go into Device Manager, there is no entry available...

4.0Ghz P4 delayed by
Yousuf Khan
Actually this sort of took me by surprise, I wasn't even aware that they
were expecting 4.0Ghz P4's so soon. I guess I was assuming that with all of
the Prescott problems that they were just busy sorting those out before they
try for any speed records. I guess that's exactly what...

keeping Itanium competitive by
Yousuf Khan
http://zdnet.com.com/2100-1103_2-5281908.html
Among other things that they're proposing for the Itanium are SpeedStep and
multiple i/o buses (a la Hypertransport?).

Are 80x86 badly designed processors ? by
Programmershouse
Hello,
Why is x86 badly designed ?
* x86 hasnt enough registers.
* x86 has variable length instructions,
* x86 has mem to mem operands,
* x86 has complex addressing modes,
* x86 is backward compatible with useless features like "real mode" at boot,
etc.
x86 are CISC but RISC processors take more...

Is it dumb to buy 32 bit cpu now? by
Jethro
Is it unwise for me to bjuy a 3.4 Pentium 4 with Windows 64 XP coming
out at the end of the year? Will it be obsolete within a year? Should
I just buy 64 bit chips from now on? TIA!

P4 Decision by
KikiNaconia
I need a little help determining which type of processor to get for a PC I want
to build. I want to get either the Prescott or Northwood 3.0GHz processor.
The Prescott has become a bit cheaper. I have seen benchmarks which show the
Northwood doing as well or better. Will future software take...

Prescott or Northwood by
skydigger123
I've been looking up the results from AnandTech, Tom's, etc and am
having a bit of trouble deciding. My system is relatively light-duty,
e-mail, surfing, music and video clips. No gaming.
Prescott and Northwood 2.8Ghz are the same price to me, and I'm
probably gonna go with an ASUS P4P800-VM,...

Confused about AMD Athlon64 3400+ by
Chris Carlen
Hi:
I thought AMD was going to release a 2.4GHz version of 3400+ with
reduced cache of 512k, but increased clock at 2.4Ghz in socket 754?
This was from an article that I can't seem to find again.
Now more recent articles indicate that 3700+ appears to be the last
socket 754 chip.

Call for a test on the D865PBZ Intel motherboard. by
Giuseppe Vitillaro
I have a very strange problem with this motherboard and, while I'm
looking for the "official" Intel support I would like to try to get
some help on this newsgroup (I hope is the right one, otherwise,
please address me).
I'm using D875PBZ from September 2003 and, by now, I had 7 of this

Slightly off-topic questions about AMD64 by
Mary Richards
I know this is an Intel newsgroup but as there is no AMD group I have to ask
my questions here. I have 3 questions about an Athlon64.
1. Does an Athlon64 motherboard require special video cards etc or can it
just take standard cards?
2. Is there an AMD64 version of Windows XP?
3. Do I need...

Microsoft nearly lost Windows? by
Yousuf Khan
As we know Microsoft sued Lindows for its name being too close to
Microsoft's Windows. It turns out that Lindows in turn challenged
Microsoft's right to use the term Windows, since it is generic. So the
result? Microsoft ended up paying Lindows $20 million and Lindows will
change its name to...

Hi all
I'm new here and I got a question about a problem with the following:
I bought a Intel D865PERL with a Intel Celeron 2,6Ghz.
My AMD was burned due a failed CPU Fan :-(
I've installed everything and connect the board with the Power-Supply.
