Video card upgrade...Radeon VS Nvidia by
B
I believe your choice should be neither card as you can get a Radeon 9800
128 meg card for about 144 US dollars or an NVIDIA 5900 128 meg card for the
price of the FX 5700 Ultra.

Problems installing a FX5900 by
B
You need a minimum of 350 watts for many and most of the upper FX line. I
have an older FX 5800 and the box for it said 350 watt power supply minimum.

OpenGL not initializing by

You'll need the latest video drivers approved by your PC or video card
manufacturer. Ensure your motherboard chipset drivers are current. If you
happen to be using the Windows XP drivers that come with XP that is the root
of your problems.

MSI FX Board question by

MSI was kind enough to give you a 256 meg card as opposed to your 128 meg
card. Other than that they are virtually identical.

44.67 drivers by
B
I recently found on the internet the NVIDIA 44.67 beta drivers. I tried them
on my FX 5800 (non-ultra) card and there is significant improvement. I Just
wondered if anyone else has noticed the same?

Screen pixelates??? by
B
Not necessarily. The first thing to try is to remove the card from the PC.
Inspect it for damage that you can see physically. If you can not see any
damage take a common pencil eraser and use this to clean the leads of the
card 'gently' and then blow away the loose pencil dust particles,...

Drivers by
B
NVIDIA beta drivers are all over the net. Some video card manufacturers have
versions 44.67 and 44.71 versions of the NVIDIA driver posted on their
websites. Search your videocard manufacturer's website first. If you are a
risk taker and would like to try the beta drivers, they are located here...

I've seen this before. First of all uninstall the drivers via the add/remove

then do so. Then reload the drivers and see if the problem continues. If the
problem continues shut down the PC. remove power, then reseat the...

VSYNC Stuttering by
B
Oh yes, one more thing. Ensure your power supply is able to cope with your
present new video card's requirements. Most of the FX series cards require a
minimum of '350' watts but based upon your setup I would go for at least 400
watts.

XP GeForce4 MMX problem by
B
Try to reinstall your motherboard chipset drivers and see if this fixes the
problem. Otherwise if you have Windows XP installed use a restore point and
roll back to a restore point prior to when the problem occurred.
