Mr. Nutcracker ! by
Phil
Nutcracker
When I asked a question about the 4350R you said, "Those things are
old. Damn old. Musty cursty old."
Does this apply to all the 4300 family or just 4350R? The 4350R uses
the same cards internally and scsi3 interface (single or dual) as
4314R. (Same part numbers)
After firing them up...

Compaq Arrays That Allow Read Only LUNS? by
Will
Do any of the MSA500 / MSA1000 / MSA1500 RAID controllers give you a way to
define a LUN as read-only to a host computer? I'm using this to provide a
large group of files to three computers that get updated maybe once a month.
Sure I could use a network share, but would for performance reasons...

Proliant 7000 rails by
.
Can anybody tell me the specific part number for the rackmount slides to
suit the Proliant 7000 machine? I've got a bunch of normal slides to
suit the 5000/5500/1200 stuff, but they don't suit the 7000. The machine
width is 422mm for these machines, but for some reason Compaq decided to
make...

Where do you buy your DLT tapes -- retail or Internet? by
Rick F.
Jeff/LC et-al,
Do you buy your DLT tapes (if you use them still) online or via one or more
retail stores? I've called a few places and nobody seems to carry them
except via mail-order places.. Is there some chain that might be available
here in the LA area that might have them or is my best bet...

I have a brand new DL380 G5 with both SATA (factory fit) and SAS
(add-on) controllers. The drive backplane is connected to the controller
with two data cables. How is it wired internally? Can I mix SAS and SATA
on the same backplane, connecting the left part of the backplane to the
SAS and the...

adding drives to a proliant 3000 by
Joseph
I currently have an 18G drive (on scsi ID5) in my proliant 3000 P2-400.
I am trying to add a 50G ddrive. Upon plugging in the new drive and
booting the machine, the server detects the new drive on scsi ID2 and
immediately try to start booting from it. Of course there is nothing
there and I get...

RA4100 Redundancy by
WS
We have an RA4100 with dual RA4000 controllers that, a long time ago, was
set up for redundancy. What I want to do is remove this redundancy, so that
the second RA4000 controller in the unit operates as a separate path to the
same logical drives.
What piece of software/hardware controls whether...

Initially I found the IDE CD-ROM was disconnected but having
reconnected it I still cannot boot from any media. Is there any way to

Cables for running in duplex mode by
Jason Arthurs
I'm about to get my hands on a dual channel 3200 controller, do these
specifically need a point-to-point 68pin cable or will they run with a
standard terminated or unterminated cable?
I'm guessing the cage terminates internally, so I would assume a cable
with a terminator is a...

Just How Bad Has HP Support Become? by
Will
We opened up a trouble ticket on a DL380 G2 with a problem rebuilding a RAID
array, and I'm pretty depressed at just how poor HP's service level was.
We had no problems with the $39 out of warranty charge for the call but:
1) They charged $39 twice.
2) No one who dealt with us was fluent in...
