A8V vs K8V ? by aq
A quick question, is there any advantage of A8V over K8V or vice versa ? Although at first I tend toward K8N (754-pin), but now thinking of AV8 (939-pin) instead. The price of CPUs of both pin-types are exactly the same. Is the difference on memory channel ? Or something else ? TIA for any...

Asus Probe and power supply fan speed by Peacekeeper
Running latest probe happens on version back a bit as well. When I installed a Super Flower power supply which comes with a 14cm fan running at 1100rpm probe when it starts fails to acknowledge the fan is working and pops up. The bios sees the fan at 1100rpm and my probe is set to 600rpm minimum...

P4C800-E BIOS Flaky? by Bill Anderson
I've been dealing with my new P4C800E Deluxe mbo for about a week and a half, setting up a dual-boot system, learning the intracies of S-ATA, flashing to ver. 1019, etc. etc. I boot both OS's from an 80-gig WD S-ATA drive. On the primary IDE channel I have two physical WD hard disk drives. On...

A7n-266C : disk disabled by J. Smith
Hello, On an ASUS A7N-266C with 2 disks on the primary IDE Channel, when the slave disk is disabled in the bios (Disk = none), on the boot intro screen the disk is logically not found, but Windows XP still see it, and it can be used to work as if it was enabled in the bios. How this can be...

A7N8X-Deluxe - problems with USB card reader by Stuart Smith
My USB card reader used for photos has suddenly, for no reason I can fathom, started not to be recognised. It prevents the system booting up when a card is in place. When I remove the card, the bootup resumes. Also, when XP has booted up, if I open Windows Explorer and try to insert the card,...

Current State of the Motherboard Address by _AGC
It is time once again. I must revamp the main system I use for a development workstation. I need good speed, but I don't want to speed $1000 for that last 1Hz. I try to buy on the 'knee' of the cost-performance curve. Reliability and compatibility is very important. Top of the list maybe. As...

P2B-LS memory by Michael Taylor
I have a P2B-LS board and want to add more PC-100 SD-RAM to it. The motherboard manual indicates it can accept up to 128Mb DIMMS in each of the 4 DIMM sockets. The board is rev 1.02 and is using the 1014 firmware. Is it possible to use larger DIMMS to get more than 512Mb in total?

A7N8X-E Deluxe Dual Channel = Bad RAM? (or two modules = bad RAM?) by Erik Harris
Testing memory exhaustively is an incredibly slow process, so I haven't had a chance to troubleshoot this _fully_ yet. I'm running an A7N8X-E Deluxe with a "TwinX" pair of Corsair 512MB XMS PC4000 modules (250MHz/500DDR RAM running at 200MHz/400DDR, and with default timings; nothing...
