Ever see a problem like this? by
Gregory Baxter
Hi all,
I have a GA-M61P-S3 motherboard and today when I went to boot up the power
led came on and the hard drive led came on and stayed on solid, no POST
beep, no splash screen. I tried a few things to no avail, then removed the
cover and moved the SATA cable to SATA 1 slot. The system booted...

Exploding voltage regulators by
/mel/
A crack, and the machine powering down, then a hint of fried semiconductor
in the air... it looks like one of the voltage regulators on my GA7VRXP has
cratered. Is this a common problem with these boards? I suspect one of the
nearby electrolytics has failed, and I think it may have taken the CPU...

Extracting Sil3512 BIOS ? by
Peter Geddes
I'm currently using the F8 BIOS on my GigaByte GA-K8NSNXP-939 motherboard.
I'm using this because the Sil3512 bios embedded in it gives the best Norton
Ghost performance in DOS.
Is it possible to extract the Sil3512 BIOS in the F8 BIOS and put it into
the F13 BIOS instead?
Thanks

F10 Bios upgrade for GA 7DXR MB by
Mighty Magpie
Re Bios version 10, where can I access it?
I recently tried to flash upgrade using the CD which came with the MB when I
originally bought it 2 years or so ago. I remember finding this so much
easier than a previous method.
Anyway, this time this preferred method gave me a number of Internet...

F5 BIOS, observations by
Richard Dower
In relation to the GA-K8NXP-9 motherboard. I see no major difference with
this BIOS over the previous F5i beta BIOS. But one nice thing i did see
added was during the main BIOS page there is new information displayed that
says "memory controller - dual channel, 128 bit".
This is new and was not...

f9 Bios for K8N Pro by
Fitz
The new BIOS for the K8N Pro board seems to require a repair install of
WinXP after flashing. The website says it has a fix for a cpu voltage
problem. Seems like I should update, but what a pain the OS reinstall is.
Has anybody used the F9 and is there an improvement in performance. Is
anybody...

One thing though my dmi reads f6 12/25/03.

Failure of GA7N400Pro2 and GA7VA incl. cpu - PNY videocard the culprit? by

I have had a second complete failure of mainboard and cpu. The first time it
was a Gigabyte GA7N400Pro2 with Athlon XP2700, the second time a Gigabyte
GA7VA with Athlon XP2200. In neither case did the psu fail, the RAM was OK
afterwards, and so was the hard drive, CDRW, FDD - and even the PNY...

Fan Connection by
[email protected]
I'd like to get some help with a fan connection problem. I have a
Sonata II case and a Gigabyte GA-K8N Pro SLI motherboard.
The case power supply has a 2 wire lead that is for fan speed
monitoring but I'm not sure where to connect it. Any ideas as I have a
choice of Sys fan, Pwr fan or NB fan?

Fan on GA-8IK1100 by
Harry Edwards
The fan on the Northbridge is making a bussing sound... the only way
to stop it is to give it a little tap. I tried blowing it out with
air but that only works for a day. Is there a way I can replace the
fan?
