7800GS graphics card... worth it? by
[email protected]
I have the misfortune of being stuck with an AGP motherboard. I'm
don't feel the need to ditch my Athlon 64 3000+ just yet, but at the
same time I don't feel comfortable investing money into a dead
technology like AGP.
Most of the fancy new cards are PCI-Express only, and I can't really
use 'em...

New Build - graphic card power problem...? by
Flash Gordon
Hi All,
I have just built my second ever computer. The unit is as follows and in
some cases, like the video card model, case, etc - recommended for my needs
(I work with lots of 3D models/graphics, etc) by the guy in the comp store.
AMD Athlon X2 - 4200 Chip
Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe M/Board

How to calibrate LCD monitor (LG L194WT) ?? by
Beladi Nasralla
I have a PC with a videocard nVidia 7600GT. Few days ago I got an LCD
monitor LG L194WT.
Well, this turned out to be a cheap and nasty monitor. I have
experience with using a higher-class LCD monitor for playing games and
editing digital photographic pictures.
In this monitor on the standard...

Unusual video card problem - stumped Hardforums - can YOU figure it out? by
Mike J.S.
Okay, something weird is going on right now. I don't know what triggered it,
but I've been doing a lot of troubleshooting lately, before giving up and
reformatting my HD.
2407WFP-HC gets no signal on boot-up until Windows is loaded. Only then does
it turn on. The screen is connected via DVI...

nVidia Quadro FX 3400 and 3450 (for gaming?) by
[email protected]
I have recently acquired a workstation with SCSI drives and would like
to run FSX (flightsim) on the machine. It's getting pretty good frame
rates with the default FireGL V3100 but when I enable anti aliasing the
framerates drop to below 10 fps.
Will the Quadro FX 3400 or FX 3450 run FSX? which...

HL2 delayed until around April 2004....... by
Biz
Reportedly due to someone hacking into Valve's network, and stealing some of
the source code for HL2, its been delayed. So the people claiming its still
vaporware are 100% correct, as vaporware is any software b4 it is released
to the public, no leaks don't count. So give the HL2 posts a rest. ...

Ti4200 broken? by
reg
I have a Ti4200 card which seems to have a major problem. It works fine when
displaying the desktop, but whenever it is called upon to display 3d (games)
the display either freezes immediately or sections of the graphics are not
displayed, with funny stripes where textures should be.
I have run...

What does it take to play Halo by
Sam Carleton
My cousin has a 933MHz Pentium machine with 128Megs ram
and no 3D card. The question is: Can the machine be
upgraded to play Halo? If he where to up the memory to
512Megs and put in at least a Nvidia FX 5600, could he
play Halo or is the CPU simply too slow?
Also, can his system take advantage...

Halo Very OK by
Skybuck Flying
Ok,
I just played halo trial demo multiplayer for a couple of hours...
It was pretty good.
The speed is decent and the graphics look good and the lag isn't too bad.
It was very relaxing.... totally different than say rtcw for example.

6800GT vs. X800Pro...with an eye to the future by

I'm reentering the gaming world after a long hiatus. How long? I'm
replacing a 2xP2/300, 384mb, Voodoo3, AWE64 rig! I'm going to ask the same
question that everyone is these days, but hopefully a little more
intelligently than "DudE! My mOm say she'll h00k me up with eItheR. ...

Turn vertex points on/off, so fragment points turn on/off by
Skybuck Flying[_2_]
Hello,
I am newb to gpgpu programming so I wonder if the following is possible and
what technique for it could be used to achieve it
(I saw someone else mention GL_POINTS so I will go on that):
The idea is as follows:
There is an array of verteces for example 1000 verteces.
Each vertex...
