How to connect CAT 5 or 6 to a modular telephone jack by
micky
How to connect CAT 5 or 6 to a modular telephone jack?
I need to connect an 8C8P jack to a 4-conductor telephone-style jack, at
both ends of the cable..
Two basic questions:
A) Terminology, Does RJ45 just refer to 4-conductor modular telephone
line connectors, that are on the ends of the...

Connoly E187242 Motherboard? by
[email protected]
Anyone out there familiar with this mobo? I can only find two SATA
connections on the mobo, but the BIOS lists SATA0 and SATA2. Does
this imply there is another SATA (say, SATA1) somewhere? I was hoping
there is another SATA connection because I can use it for an extra
hard drive.
Just thought...

bios hung while flashing by
mdp
Actually, if you want to hot flash (a "not for the faint of heart" method to
recover a bad flash), you'll need to set the BIOS to cacheable in order to
pull the BIOS chip out while it's running.

Dell XPS 600 motherboard failure by
E[_4_]
Hi
A friend asked me to fix her Dell XPS 600.
You try to turn it on, the fans spin, and it shuts itself off after a
few seconds. I have searched the web and found several posts in message
boards where people have the exact same problem with this machine.
Here is one of my favorites, twelfth...

IDE RAID- Major problem need to save my data by
MC
I had a motherboard with a built in IDE RAID Promise chipset. I used
two drives for RAID 0 (now I know this was a bad idea). To make a
long story short, the system board is shot and I can't get another
with the same RAID chipset. Even if I throw the computer out, I really
need to save my data. My...

Modem connection speed by
Neil Barnwell
On our standard 56k dialup modem (in the UK, this is), we only get ~38k when
we connect. Are there any ways to correct this? I've considered calling
the phone company and asking them to turn up the gain, but I've also been
told that this wouldn't make any difference.
Drivers etc are all up to...

Newbie Question re hardware vs software RAID by
Gilgamesh
I'm looking at installing a SATA RAID 5 system in my home PC to provide a
means of data recovery in case of hard disk failure (I'm thinking this will
be cheaper in the long run than installing a tape drive for a Tb of data).
When the 400Gb drives are released I'll be looking at getting 4 for...

Wireless mouse with longest battery life? by
BestMouse
My system is a year-and-a-half-old Dell Dimension 8400 running WinXP,
with a Dell wireless keyboard and mouse, and is left on 24 hours a
day. Unfortunately the mouse, which requires two AA batteries, uses up
batteries very fast, so I'd like to replace the mouse with a more
efficient one (but keep...

Good and affordable UPS for Corsair CX450 by

I've built a "basic" PC desktop, I mean 150-200w max for "basic" including my monitor, with a Corsair CX450 PSU (OEM CWT RPS0053) with active PFC. Now I need a UPS but my budget isn't high to get the best (eg. an online UPS) so I'd like to buy a UPS with the best quality/price relationship for my...

winupdate ei onnistu by
[email protected]
Olen päivittämässä w2k professionalia. Winupdate lataa tiedostot
kiltisti, mutta asentaminen ei onnistu, vaikka oikeudet ovat
järjestelmänvalvojaoikeudet. Onko kokemusta vastaavasta?
