Bad Caps by
Davy
I really don't know where to post this, because you will see it
applies to all mobos that use Taiwan caps, capacitors for short.
I have a Gigabyte GA-7VAXP Rev. 1 mobo, I usually do an inspection and
a 'dust down' at various intervals, this time I noticed one cap has a
swollen top, these are the...

GA-7VT880L mobo (KT880 chipset) and SATA drives by
Clive Backham
I have a GA-7VT880L motherboard, which uses the VIA K880 chipset and
the VT8237 southbridge controller. I recently bought a pair of Maxtor
DiamondMax10 300GB SATA150 drives (type 6L300S0) to add as secondary
storage (keeping the existing IBM Deskstar PATA drive as the boot
device).
The problem I'm...

GA-8I945PMF, Half-Life 2, and Realtek HD audio by
/mel/
It appears that if you're trying to use 5.1 audio in Half-life 2 on a board
with a Realtek HD audio codec, eg the ALC882, it just aint going to work
properly. There are driver issues, and they aren't yet fixed despite them
being known about for some time. Bah bloody humbug. I've tried the...

8KNS high CPU temperatures by
John McDonnell
I have a 8KNS and have no overclocking. It is a lightweight system with an
old TNT32 Ultra AGP card. The ram is Crucual PC 3200 ECC running at DDR 400
dual channel. The temperatures are stable (38 to 42 C) until I do anything
graphical. Then the temperature will go slowly up to the limit, which...

CPU Purchase questions... by
Jason Ash
I currently have a K8N Ultra-9 motherboard. I'm expecting to get my X-
mas bonus from work in a couple weeks, and am looking at possibly
upgrading my CPU.
My question is, working with a $300-350 price limit, which would give
more "bang for the buck?" I'm looking at either a 4000+ (San...

Curious beeps from GA-8KNXP by
Bradley Walker
Just last night I started noticed very low tone, soft but brief beeps coming
from the speaker inside my PC case. Mind you, this is not coming from my PC
speakers, but that single magnetic speaker attached to the case. Anyway
every few minutes I get a very soft and low toned *beep-beep* that...

Overclocking in F6 BIOS for GA-K8N Pro by
Chris
I have found that some people have had success using third party programs,
mainly ClockGen, to overclock their GA-K8N Pro SLI. In ClockGen, for me, I
went into the BIOS first and set the CPU down to x6 and the memory down to
100 speed. Boot into Windows and run Clockgen and it freezes if I try to...

Please help - GA-K8NXP-SLI BIOS update problems by
BillL
Hello all,
My PC has been running quite happily on the F9 BIOS then I stupidly tried to
change a setting (enable 1T timing) in the BIOS screen. I hit F10 and the PC
wouldn't boot (series of long bleeps). I switched off the PC and restarted
with the delete key. Anyhow the PC started (one long beep...
