SoundMAX4 XL on Intel motherboards -- any good? by
Milhouse Van Houten
I ask, because I've noticed that since moving to a new system built around
an 865GBF, my Altec Lansing ACS45.1 three-piece speakers emit a noticeable
hiss that they did not (at least to this extent) on my previous system,
which utilized an old SoundBlaster PCI card.
Is there something that can be...

Controlling cpu fan speed in bios? by
David Ciemny
Hi all... is there a bios available for a D875 mobo that would let me
control the speed of my stock Intel cpu fan?
Just a shot in the dark here.

Enabling Hyperthreading by
Phil
Hi,
I have a P4 2.4GHz (800 FSB), which my OS (XP) reports as having
HyperThreading avalible, but disabled.
I've looked in my BIOS, but there doesn't seem to be any option for it
(even though the manually says that there is).
Is there any way to force Hyperthreading on?
Thanks,

Intel D865PERL Dual Channel ?? by

My first attempt with dual channel leads me to a few questions. I have a
D865PERL in which ran fine with a single stick of 512MB Crucial. To take
advantage of dual channel, I decided to purchase and install two Crucial
CT3264Z40B.4T (Crucial doesn't offer matched sets, but it is the same

Boxed 3.2GHz Intel CPU Heatsink Installation by
Robert Willis
I have a 3.2GHz Boxed Intel CPU and I am wondering if I need to remove a
"cover sheet" from the heatsink thermal pad before I install it. The CPU is
still sealed in the plastic box and the included instructions are not very
clear.

memory and Intel D850EMVR by
Edward J. Neth
Has anyone looked at adding the maximum amount of memory (1.5G) to an Intel
D850EMVR board?
If you read Intel's specs, it looks like it can take 2G of PC800 RIMMs -
which would be 512 MBytesX4, either 256 or 288 RIMMs.
The specs for PC1066 call for no more than 1.5 GBytes of RDRAM, and no...

IA32e==AMD64 (but Intel doesn't want you to know that) by

A64 mobos for $80 by
Yousuf Khan
754-pin Athlon 64 mobos can be had for as little as $80. Based on SiS 755
chipset. This chipset seems to a little pocket rocket, apparently better at
i/o than its rivals. Combine with a $200 A64 3000+, and things are getting
affordable. One of first SIS based mobos is the ECS-755. These SIS...

AMD64 = IA-32e by
Black Jack
Regarding whether Intel is going to be using the AMD64 language or not, and
answer is not, it's using the IA-32e language. Other than the name it's
exactly the same as AMD64, right down to the number of registers, and lack
of support for Virtual-8086 mode, etc.
Here is AMD's AMD64...
