533mhz dddr by
Emlyn
I'm a novice with this stuff, so forgive me if it seems very
basic...I've seen on some sites, mention that "dddr" memory is what's
used to break the 400mhz barrier. However, I notice that motherboards
(and associated dddr memory) for the AMD socket 939 chip only go as
far as 400mhz. How come the...

64 - 3200? by
Richard Miller
They have a 3200 with 1 meg of L2 at 754 pins. A 3200 with 512 K at 939
pins. I don't get it. Can someone explain the difference in the pins vs. the
L2 cache and I think the 1 meg at 754 pins would be the better one, but why
less pins and more cache?

64 3500+ 939pin H/S & Fan by
BF
Does anyone know if the retail box version of the AMD 64 3500+ 939pin
comes with a heatsink and fan? If it doesn't what do you suggest would
be the best, reasonably priced way to go?
Thanks,
Bill

64 bit by
Richard
Microsoft has suggested that only a 64 bit processor will run HD DVD's on
Vista. I assume that the Dual Core Intel piece is 32 bit and the Dual Core 2
is a 64 bit piece. Will Vista be a dual 32/64 bit OS or will a high cost and
poorly supported 64 bit version be in the pipeline?
Richard.

64 bit development tools by
Paul
Hi
Does anyone know where I can get hold of the 64bit compiler and libraries
for the AMD64. Unfortunately I don't have access to MSDN and for some
strange reason microsoft is not making them downloadable. This seems a
strange way to encourage people to port apps to 64 bit ?

64 bit driver for Trendnet USB 2.0 wireless adapter ? by
Caveat Emptor
Have been struggling to install a Trendnet TWE 424UB 802.11g USB 2.0
adapter on my Opteron 144 based desktop under Ubuntu Linux (Dapper
Drake Flight3). Can't find a native driver, so I tried ndiswrapper
with a SiS driver for windows, and it's not working. It can recognize
the hardware, but am...

64 bit OS compatability by
Menuz2
If I load a 64 bit Linux, such as SUSE, will it run both existing 32 bit and
new 64 bit binaries. Not every program I would like to use is available in
source. Most but not all. The same question for the beta XP 86-64 release.
Normal Win32 OS's did a good job running 16 programs, I am just...

64 bit your opinions please... by
speedracer
Hello all! I am currently running a 32 bit MSi board with and AMD
athlon 2500+. I have been thinking of taking the plunge and moving to
the 64 bit world. To do this I am thinking of getting an MSI 64 bit
Neo4 Platinum and powering it with an AMD 64x2 4200 processor. My
question/dilema is this:...

64 cooler than XP? by
Large Farva
I just built my first system using an Athlon 64, it's a 2800 socket 754. I
also got a Zalman 92mm cooler which is something I've always wanted to try.
Let me tell you, this thing runs cooooool. I'm talking 26 degrees, people.
And the fan is SILENT. I've built plenty of XP systems and the CPU temps...

64-bit DVD player? by
David Efflandt
Is there a 64-bit XP DVD player? 64-bit MediaPlayer has no DVD decoder.
WinDVD seems to work fine, but is not 64-bit aware, so its related
information utility links (local htm files) do not work with 64-bit IE
(but do work manually with 32-bit IE). During installation, it was also
unaware that...

Asking for my brother who is upgrading to 64bit AMD now.
If he installs XP Pro 64bit does that affect gaming? (better/worse?) What do

Any advice?
