I would like to know what you are seeing in your BIOS under Voltage/frequency Memory Frequency for Do you see choices auto, 2.0, 1.6, 1.33 or only auto and 2.0? Please include the FSB speed of your CPU (400, 533, or 800) and if P4 or Celeron.
