Bad Sectors On Harddrive by
Bill Bradshaw
I have a Samsung laptop that has developed a few bad sectors on the
harddrive. Running Windows 7 Pro 32 bit and a 320 gig harddrive
(FUJITSU 320). All I really need is about a 500 gig, 2.5 inch, sata 3,
and 7,200 rpm. Before I am asked I have created several backups to make
sure I have a...

Dell Laptop Battery Charging by
Juan Wei
A friend has a Dell laptop that runs well except for one thing: it no
longer will charge the battery. It was suggested that he get a new
motherboard rather than attempt a repair. Is that the only possible
solution?

Opening Archos tablet? by
Kenny Cargill
Archos 101 G9 Turbo, mini USB/charger socket loose internally. Confident
with soldering but how do I get it open without damaging it? There are 4
little rubber feet on the underside, is it likely there are screws
underneath them? Have Googled for repair tips but came up with nothing.

ASUS Sabertooth z87 unstable by
DevilsPGD[_5_]
I've got a brand new ASUS Sabertooth z87 which is acting a bit unstable.
It started with a BSOD when enabling Hyper-V, or when installing certain
drivers (Intel's Rapid Storage, for example), but after a BSOD,
resetting using the hardware reset switch would hang on the logo of the
BIOS screen.
It...

Toshiba Satellite by
[email protected]
I am trying to get a Toshiba Satellite Laptop going. I think the
model is either L505D-S5965 or PSLM0U-00F002 or PA3726U-1MPC.
It came to me without a hard drive, so I tried two Hitachi
HTS541680J9SA00 's that I have - 80GB SATA - and tried to install XP
SP3 from a working install CD. Both...

Trim Command by
philo [_2_]
A while back I acquired a Dell Mini with a bad mini-ssd.
I replaced it with a Kingspec 16 gig drive and loaded XP.
I've recently noticed the performance was very sluggish so went to
Kingspec's website to see if they had a "Trim" utility for XP but found
nothing.
Even though defrag is...

Motherboard Power Question by
[email protected]
I am concerned that if my machine is connected to a power source, my
motherboard is receiving power even though it is not doing anything
until I switch my machine on. How does this impact things like
adding/changing RAM? Motherboard connections to hard drive (power,
Sata, IDE)? USB? Do I need...

DDR-1 ? by

I am upgrading some older P-4 and AMD equivalent machines and recently
purchased some dirt cheap Chinese RAM on eBay. ( 1gig sticks 400mhz)
The site specifically said it works with VIA, SiS and Nvidia3/4 chipsets
and indeed it does...so all is fine
however I got documentation with the RAM...

Effect of failing CMOS Battery? by
Juan Wei
From a cold start, my Gateway desktop boots to the Gateway (BIOS) splash
screen and offers DEL to enter Setup and F12 to enter Boot Menu.
It then sits there for a minute or more before I get "Starting Windows".
Someone suggested a low CMOS battery. Could he be right?
Wouldn't there be other...

OT can dropping something destory just a bit of its memory?
I guess I know the answer, but I want to hear anything you all know
about this. Six months ago, I dropped my smart phone on a ceramic
tile floor, and when I turned it on right after that, the start-up
images -- I forget what they had...

Multi-boot Question by

Should I be doing what I am doing?
I have a machine set up with two separate hard drives, one with XP
installed, the other with W7 installed.
I created both drives individually, and by themselves. Yes, I created
the XP drive first.
I use the BIOS boot order menu selection to choose whether to boot...

Toshiba Satellite A85 S1072 Driver Problem by
[email protected]
I am trying to resurrect a Toshiba Satellite A85 S1072 laptop.
I have XP SP3 installed on it, and have resolved all the drivers
except for the Ethernet. I have found and tried two drivers:
sa85lanx.exe
tm4wlanutilax.exe
But XP Device Manager still shows the Ethernet to be bad.
What I believe is...
