micky
I want to attach a video camera to the top of a 20 foot pole and see
what the camera sees.
A Wired: I have an old USB camera, never used, and it won't install
right now (but that's a separate topic) Assuming I can install it, it
has a 6' cord. Is it likely I'll be able to attach a 20'...

USB vs. Built-In Wi-Fi Adapters by
tb
My current laptop has an old built-in 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi adapter.
Let's say that I have an 802.11ac router and want to purchase this
Wi-Fi adapter for my laptop:
http://www.asus.com/Networking/USBAC56/
I am not sure whether the two Wi-Fi adapters (built-in 802.11 b/g/n and
USB 802.11ac) could...

no sound in Dell Inspiron 3847 by
t
The computer is new and came with Windows 8.1.
I re-installed the Realtek audio card drivers, but there is no sound.
The CPU connects to the Dell 24 Monitor - S2440L monitor via VGA cable.
Checking in the sounds option in Control panel shows external speakers
are needed. I see there is a...

power supply (observation) by
philo [_2_]
I recently replaced a power supply on a machine I had built for a friend
of mine a while back.
He told me that his monitor had been flickering for several months
before the PSU died and with the new supply...no flicker at all.
Never saw that one before, just thought I'd mention it.

Dell Optiplex 760 Problem by
[email protected]
I have had my current machine connected to an Iogear DVI KVM, and
have had no problem. I connected the Optiplex 760 I am playing with
to the same KVM, using the 760's DVI connection. It started up and
displayed fine. When I got the 760 the way I want it (with XP SP3),
I next tried to instead...

reputable source for info about monitors? by
Yes[_2_]
Is there a reputable site that follows the consumer video/monitor
industry and shares its info with the public by way of reviews,
recommendations and papers?
It's been a long time since I last researched monitors. I'm interested
in learning what (if any) difference there is between LED monitors...

New computer question by
Gary Walker
I'm searching for a new desktop computer. And, I
have the following question.
If USB 3.0 is downward compatible, do manufac-
turers insist on installing USB 2.0 interfaces
because:
1. They want to confuse their customer.
2. They do not trust the compatibility.

USB HDD and TV by
Thip
I've got tons of movies stored on an external USB HDD. My new TV--and how I
wish I'd read reviews before I bought it!--has one USB port that is
"maintenance only." It appears I can't go USB to HDMI. Am I stuck? Does
anyone know a simple, relatively inexpensive solution?

Any suggestions are welcomed.
