Expanding Drives on Fibre Channel Array by
Will
The RA4000 and RA4100 fibre array software warns you that you
cannot expand drives when they run under Windows 2000. What is
the observed behavior for such cases? I tried to do it with a
small sample NTFS volume I created, and it worked without any
problems at all.

Intel 82371AB/EB PCI to USB Proliant 1850R Windows 2000 by
Will
I have a Proliant 1850R with Windows 2000 that in Device Manager | System
Devices shows a yellow error/exclamation next to:
Intel 82371AB/EB PCI to USB
The Internet is loaded with users with the same error across a large number
of different systems. One user reported that it was due to a...

Third Party Enclosure for Rackmount System by
Will
Does anyone know of a small tower or desktop enclosure that a rackmount 2U
system like DL385 could be inserted into to convert to a "desktop" format?
HP doesn't have the part, so third party is okay.

Just How Bad Has HP Support Become? by
Will
We opened up a trouble ticket on a DL380 G2 with a problem rebuilding a RAID
array, and I'm pretty depressed at just how poor HP's service level was.
We had no problems with the $39 out of warranty charge for the call but:
1) They charged $39 twice.
2) No one who dealt with us was fluent in...

HP Using ELPIDA Memory in DL380 G4? by
Will
Is HP using memory from a Japanese company named ELPIDA in the DL380 G4?
I am showing assembly 345113-851 Spare 413385-001 as the 1GB DIMM that is
part of the 2 GB memory kit. I ordered this from the vendor and it does
have the HP label, but I have never seen the ELPIDA label on any other...

USB Broken on Proliant 1850R on Windows 2000 by
Will
Does anyone here have a Proliant 1850R running Windows 2000? Could you
peek in Windows Device Manager under System devices and tell me what you
sell for the Intel 82371AB/EB PCI to USB driver? Ours shows an
information error saying it cannot be configured because of our system bios

Power Saving Mode on DL385 by
Will
When I put a dual core 2.2 GHz DL385 into the BIOS power saving mode, the
system boots up at 1.8 GHz. What regulates whether the system will then
later raise to 2.2 GHz? Does this require installation of a Windows driver
to help the system hardware determine the CPU load is high?

DL385 With Two P600 Adapters by
Will
Does anyone know if the DL385 is allowed to run Windows 2003 32-bit with TWO
P600 adapters? We have one of these with cabling to the internal SAS 2.5
array in a DL385 and the second one has its external port attached to an
external MSA50 2.5 SAS array. We mirrored the boot device across the...

MSA1500 AA986A: Does This Include Controller? by
Will
I'm trying to get a clearer understanding of what parts does HP include in
the AA986A MSA1500 SAN Controller Shelf. Some sources seem to suggest
that this part is just the empty shelf, whereas others are describing it as
a configuration that includes a single controller module preinstalled.

DL380 G2 Without Smartarray by

In DL580 I'm used to seeing a detachable SmartArray daughterboard, and after

removing the SmartArray 532 we are getting a red light on power up and...

UPS With Hotswap Batteries 2200W or Less by
Will
We use the APC Symmetra UPS in our server room and lab, and I
like it a lot. It has hotswap battery modules that you can just
plug and play. You don't disconnect wires and you don't issue
any commands to put the system in some special mode. The system
autodetects both removal and insertion. ...

Updating Firmware on AIT50 Hotswap by
Will
How do you update the firmware on the AIT50 Hotswap tape drive? I would
prefer a Windows-based utility for doing this if one exists. The Compaq
tape drive floppy set of seven floppies is just hanging on our Proliant
6400R, and I don't see a way to get it to do the upgrade correctly.

Reliability of 4214 Cases by

In general what has been the experience of others with the Compaq 4214R

SCSI hotswap trays). But the 4214R has proven really unreliable for...

Help With MSA500, MSA1000, and MSA1500? by
Will
One of my big disappoints with the earlier generation Compaq 4100 fibre
channel arrays was that you could not easily boot from them with Windows

simply had no BIOS and could not be made to take over the intial system
boot....

Generic SCSI / SATA Drives in MSA500, MSA1000, and MSA20? by

Can you use any hotswap SCSI drive in the MSA500 / MSA1000 enclosure?
Can you use any SATA drive in the MSA20 enclosure? Will MSA20 even work
with the newer 500 GB SATA drives?
Does MSA20 expose each of the 12 SATA drives as a separate SCSI ID, numbers
0 through 11?

P600 Inverts Logical Devices by
Will
On a P600 controller, after rebooting it has inverted all of the logical
device numbers! Drives were ID=0 ID=1 and ID=2. The 0 drive is now 2.
The 2 drive is now 0. How is this even possible?
How can you recover back the original drive order?
