GA-7DXR - Turn off RAID ? by
Rich Hare
I've got a GA-7DXR which I am running without using the RAID ports.
I understand that some motherboards have switches which allow you to use
the RAID ports as conventional IDE ports. Is there any way of doing
this on the GA-7DXR? I don't see it in the manual, and can't find
anything in the...

upgrading to a gigabyte board - a few queries by
Iain Robinson
I'm ditching my Abit KT7-Raid and 1.1GHz TB and thinking of going for a
Gigabyte GA-7N400-L1 and a 2500+ Athlon XP (333MHz Barton core) with PC2700
RAM as it's a reasonably priced combination. I just have a few questions
before I get the credit card out;
1. Does anyone have any comments, good or...

PE667 Ultra2 SATA Boot Order Problem by

Hi,
I have just bought a 120GB Seagate 7200.7 SATA drive. I temporarily
disconnected my old IDE drive, and installed XP on the new one. I then
rearranged the existing drives to the following configuration:
IDE1 Master - DVD ROM Drive
IDE2 Master - CD Writer
IDE3 Master - Seagate Barracuda IV (Old...

7N400-L1 by

Hi,
Has anyone tried installing a GA-7N400-L1 motherboard with Windows 98 Second
Edition? The driver CD does not seem to have some of the drivers on it.
There is no sound driver for 98 on the disk and other drivers seem to not
work correctly with 98....anyone had this experience?
Thank you

GA-7NNXP and the Barton 2800xp Chip by

Anyone running this combo? The system post only list the CPU speed

The FSB is set 100MHz from the factory. You will need to change that to
166MHz. Set CLK_SW to the On position. See page 16 of the manual.

switch to RAID, re-install XP? by

I am installing a second WD120 for RAID. I assume it is best to do a clean
install? Can it be done with current file system intact?

Disappearing SATA drives on GA-8KNXP ? by
Ackk
I too had the same problem using ICHR5 and 2 Seagate 120gb SATA in
RAID0 with F5 BIOS. I called Gigabyte today and the tech I spoke with
said he knew what was wrong, that it was a known issue, and he emailed
me BIOS ver F6k which he said wasn't on their website yet. I flashed
the BIOS and now the...

Gigabyte GA-8KNXP vs. ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe by

I have been considering getting an ASUS P4C800-E DELUXE. I've had
previous ASUS boards and have always been satisifed with them. My Abit
KT7A-Raid was another story.
Anyway, I was considering the P4C800-E but recently Tom's Hardware
released a review and gave an editor's choice to the...

GSQ800 problem by

Computer shuts down after a few minutes. To restart, I have to drain the
residual power on the motherboard, before anything starts up (turn power
'off 'on power supply & turn power 'on' on case).
I don't see anything obvious wrong. i.e. jammed fan, overheating, etc.

GA-7VAX and onboard NIC failure by

Yes, I had the NIC on a VAXP-A fail after about 2 weeks. I didn't dream it
was the mainboard, and spent all day looking at cables, software, drivers
etc. It's a lot of hassle to swap a mainboard out just for something that is
easily cured with a PCI NIC instead. I've also had network cards just...

GA-7VAC
I have installed the latest BIOS for this card, but I don't see any options
for S.M.A.R.T. capable drives in the set-up - however, during boot-up I
notice that it list the hard drives as "S.M.A.R.T. disabled". Is this an
oversight on this board, or am I missing something?
