P5N-D and e8400 overclock help please... by
Funex
Hi,
I have the Asus P5N-D mainboard and the e8400 (3.0GHz / 1333fsb) and
am having problems overclocking. Anyone here have that combo, and are
successful overclocking to 3.6GHz? I'm able to get it to boot at
3.6GHz (after some non-boot, restart issues) but when I run prime95 to
load test, it...

P5E WS Pro BIOS by
BobT
Asus has a new bios (0704) out for this board, but no docs as to what
issues it may address, or fix.
If it fixes the slow boot start problem (in a recent thread) that
would be great. Does anyone have any info on this BIOS?

Reliable power supplies with LOTs of connectors by
R[_3_]
I need to power up about 9 or 10 hard drives in a tower case. Both
regular ide (molex) and sata. I could probably get by with about 500W
or above.
I've been using Antec Neo-series power supplies, but have had some
trouble with connector reliability. Which manufacturer's supplies
would be most...

Is there a trick to installing Intel heatsink/fan assemblies? by
Bruce.[_2_]
I'm upgrading 2 computers, both to P5E's with Intel E8400 and heatsink/fan
assembly. Both have been a bear to get mounted and locked down.
It sounds simple. Line up the 4 pegs and push down until they lock. The
problem is the locking mechanism is very weak and the processor is a high
spot in...

Lacking PS/2 Mouse Port by
Bruce.[_2_]
FYI, for anyone buying a new ASUS motherboard and finding out it doesn't
have a PS/2 mouse port, here is what I tried that worked.
My situation was more complicated than just replacing the mouse because I
have a PS/2 KVM switch which I would also have to replace if I went with a
USB mouse. And...

A8V Graphics Card by
geoff
I tried upgrading my graphics card to a Radeon HD 2600XT AGP and the
printing to the display was corrupt. For example, if I tried scrolling a
web page quickly, the writing would smear.
To my dismay, the drivers are not windows qualified either.
I looked at the comments on newegg for the agp...

Vista issue with PB5 by
Mtek
Hi,
I am running Vista Home Premium. I had been running 2 Western Digital
500GB drives in RAID 0 mode. The external enclosure was a Fantom
enclosure.
The controller was going bad, so I bought a Xtrastor 3.5 x2 HDD
enclosure which supports RAID 1.
Anyhow, when I hook it up via USB, it only...

Suggestions for a good AM2+ mobo? by
~misfit~[_3_]
Hey all,
I'm Intel all the way at the moment. However, a friend bought a built-up
'gaming machine' (I've mentioned it before here, it's been nothing but
trouble) using an Asus M3A motherboard, a Phenom 9500 CPU, 1x2GB DDR2 module
and a 9600GT.
The machine's been a nightmare. Firstly it was...

Verizon are jerks.... eliminating the .alt groups by
Blig Merk
It isn't just Verizon. There is a big list of the major ISP's doing
the same thing. This will eventually kill off Usenet since Usenet is
not based on central servers but is distributed across multiple ISP
newsgroup servers. This was part of the strength of using it to
distribute pirate binaries...

For once, a pleasant download surprise... by
Paul
When you use support.asus.com and do a download, I
think you'll be in for a pleasant surprise.
I managed to download at my full capped rate today!
(A puny 300KB/sec, but that is ADSL for you.)
On checking it out with my packet sniffer, the download
comes from

Hello Group
I'm looking into building / buying a new system to replace my GA-N400-Pro2

system together a few years back, it was the dogs nads and the envy of my
mates... not any more tho.
With the Processor and Mobo choice...

How to Flash BIOS? by
Bruce.[_2_]
I can't quite seem to figure out how to flash my P5E BIOS to 0702 from 0607.
When I enter the BIOS and load the flash program, it only sees the A:, C:,
and D:, drives but I can't use any of them. A: is too small for a 2MB BIOS
file, and C: and D: are NTFS.
I do have a FAT32 thumb drive (and...

access to a browser, email, chat and Skype, before booting into Windows.
Asus apparently have this software on several motherboards and laptops.

Wireless stops working after adding 3rd RAM chip by

My ASUS A8V Deluxe works perfectly on Vista with 2GB DDR400 Corsair RAM
using a Netcomm NP542 WLAN PCI wireless network card. However, i would like
Vista to run a little faster, but installing a 3rd Corsair RAM chip (either
position) seems to stop the wireless from recognising any wireless...
