Dell Dimension 4550 Case? by
Chad
Hey Group,
Is the motherboard in the Dell 4550 able to be put in a ATX case? Such as
the one listed at tigerdirect:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?sku=DRG-C-BL
I have scuffed up my case- and want a new one.
Cheers

Go to Radio Shack and buy an inverter. Plugs in the cigarette lighter and
ends in one (or two) standard 110 outlets. Plug your laptop (and anything
else you want) into that.

Dell XPS or AlienWare Machine? by
Tom Scales
Other than the front panel switches, Dell uses pretty darn generic
components, including power supplies.
My question, though, wasn't Alienware vs. XPS, it was Alienware vs. 8300.
LOTS more than a $200-300 difference.

Inspiron 3800 com port problem by
brainfix
My client had a GPS hooked up to the COM port and the GPS shorted out.
The Dell field tech replaced the motherboard, but the COM port is
still not functioning, even using a serial mouse. Anyone have any
ideas?

Hello, I have currently two problems with my inspiron 8100.
The fist problem is that sometimes the mouse pointer freezes and no
way of doing anything and after a while nothing is moving on the
screen anymore, no way of writing anything or changing the windows. I
managed to find out that closing the...

Come on now! There's no logical reason for product numbers. It's just a
marketing decision. They must have felt the increase by 50 was a minor
change and an increase by 100 a major change.
Back when the...

Upgrading fans in Dimension XPS by
David Arnstein
My Dimension XPS is loud, loud, loud. The weather is getting warm
where I live, and the computer sounds like a vacuum cleaner.
I see that there are many fancy 92 mm fans for sale, but this upgrade
could be tricky. The fans are variable speed, and I don't know if the
sensor that controls the fans...

Just wondering: does Dell make the best laptop for gaming in its Inspiron

Chipset # for the Dell 4550, 2.4 Ghz? by
MStepansky
Where can I find such chipsets on my Dell Dimension 4550, using Pentium4 2.4
Ghz (not Hyperthreading)? What does it look like?
What number am I looking for? (865G?)
The specs I ordered back in Nov 2002 was a 333 mhz memory (PC2700) and FSB is
533 mhz, if that helps.

The name of the motherboard in 4550? by
Edward J. Neth
It's a Dell proprietary board - the power connector is standard, but the
front panel connector is not.
Most of these were made by ASUS and Hon Hai/Foxconn for Dell.

the risk is actually very low to non-existent and i don't think anyone that

to me to increase the bus speed for free and get greater disk, video,...
