CPU Speed Question by
James D
I know a little about computers but since all this Duo Core Quad Core stuff
came about it seems as though Intell doesn't base their chips on speed
anymore.
I'm looking at another prebuilt system. My question is, how does a Intel®
Core™ 2 Quad Processor Q6600 2.40GHz compare to a P4 2.40GHz...

CPU speed vs temperature by
Citizen Bob
Does Intel slow down their CPUs when the internal temperature
approaches the high end?

Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a
few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving,
regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

CPU Speed vs. FSB speed by
PeterF
Hi there
The plan being to build a new server based on the Tyan i5000XT MB, I
am stuck on the decision on what Xeon processors to buy. I am not
going for leading edge (read expensive) CPU but would be greatly
interested in an opinon on what should have priority: BUS speed or CPU
speed.

CPU speed: new computer necessary? by
sinister
The comp tech guys often suggest that people get new computers. My attitude
is that often slowness is often the result of too little RAM.
For CPUs, how slow is too slow? Context here is just the usual
not-intensive apps: email, web browser, some simple documents and
spreadsheets.
I have an...

CPU speeds and bus speeds. by
half_pint
As I understand it, whilst CPU speeds have increased several fold over
the past 10 years, bus speeds have barely doubled.
So.. is your Pentium 9. 'SuperFat*******' 4.0 GHZ CPU really going to things
15 times faster than my Cyrix 'Tortoise' 266 Mhz?

CPU speeds question. by
nightrider.36
I'm trying to figure out which computer I should buy based on my needs
but I need to see some sort of table or guide that gives me CPU speed
differences. For example, I have a laptop with a Pentium 4 CPU. I
tested it against a Core2 Duo chip and the C2D chip rendered high-res
3D images about 5...

CPU started overheating for no reason by
[email protected]
HI, I'm running a P4 3.0 on XP Pro
It's been running fine for the last few months but all of a sudden I
can't get it to stop restarting.
Sometimes I can get as far as logging on to XP and other times it only
gets as far as the loading screen before a blue screen Shudder
flashes up, too quick...

CPU TDP by
GT[_8_]
CPU TDP question:
Why are the e6300, e6400 and e6600 all rated at 65w TDP? As I understand it,
the heat output is based on the CPU architecture multiplied by the CPU clock
speed and CPU vCore squared (roughly). With these 3 chips (and other CPU
families) the only different is their speed (and...

CPU Temp by
[email protected]
My cpu temp ( normally 40c) is jumping to where my alarm (core centre
by MSI) is going off (47c). It never did this before. The system temp
remains stable while the alarm is going off
I have 3 case vantec fans and the obvious CPU fan . My feeling is that
program is buggy Opinions Please

CPU Temp - How hot is too hot? by
Christoph
I've got an EPoX 8RDA3+ MB and an Athlon 2100+ CPU. I'm
running MBM5 and it's showing that the case temp is 35C and the
CPU temp is 52C. Because I just got this MB and because some
funky things have been going on of late, in the BIOS I set the alarm
temp to 60C to have it shut down the PC (I'd...

What is the best or preferred mounting location for a thin tip type of

CPU temp sensors by
Spider
I'm building a computer and the customer wants me to add a multifunction
panel to the case. It's a 5.25" type panel and it has two sensors for
temperature readings. I'm not sure where to place these sensors on the
motherboard as it has warned me not to put a sensor in between the CPU and
the heat...

CPU Temp: 13C by

I have just updated the drivers for my MSI K8T Neo mobo, updated my BIOS and
updated the MSI "CoreCenter" monitoring software.

the updates the BIOS and CoreCenter reported my CPU as having temperatures
of between 39C and...
