24 hours of backup by
philo
I just wired up a 12volt dc to 120vac sine wave inverter
and connected five 12v sealed batteries
see pix http://www.plazaearth.com/philo/battery.jpg
I calculate that I have about 24 hours of computer backup.
Of course...that's nuts because I can live without my computer for 24 hours
but now...

2400+ by
micky
I see a lot of sentences like this:
I own a A7M266 motherboard and it runs with an Athlon XP 2400+ .
Does 2400+ mean a 2.4 GHz cpu, and 1200 means 1.2GHz.?
It might be obvious to some, but the two nomenclatures seem more
separate than a most synonmyous terms are, if indeed they are
synonymous.

No Name
Are they any good?
I went to buy something last night through them, put it in my basket to buy
it today - they have taken it out of my basket - the price has gone up, yet
on their home page, the product is still on offer for the price I put it
into my basket with yesterday!
I went to contact...

256MB is missing and 1GB DDR400 works slow by
[email protected]
Hello,
I have an AMD Athlon XP 2200+ CPU and a MSI KT6V (MS-7021 v1.X)
ATX mainboard. The KT6V mainboard is based on VIA KT600 North Bridge
& VT8237 South Bridge chipset.
I bought a 1GB DDR400 module recently. When I tried to use it with
my 512MB DDR400, BIOS could detect only 1.25GB, so 256...

256MB is missing and 1GB DDR400 works slow by
[email protected]
Hello,
I bought a 1GB DDR400 module recently. When I tried to use it with
my 512MB DDR400, BIOS could detect only 1.25GB, so 256 MB
was missing. 512MB module or 1GB module work quite fine separately
and BIOS detects the correct amount.
My motherboard has two slots and I also switched the slots...

256mb SD cards for a digital camera? by
K B
Hi,
I was about to order a 5m pixel digital camera (Nikon 5200) and was
after a fast, reliable, 256mb SD card. I've heard that for digital
camera use, fast write speeds are important, and some cards don't have
this (I might also make use of the cameras movie mode, which is 640
x480 at 30 fps, so I...

256meg ECC Reg memory appearing as 512meg? by
Noozer
I have a 256meg piece of OCZ DDR400 ECC Registered memory that, when added
to a PC, causes the PC to report 512meg more memory instead of the expected
256meg. The memory fails Memtest86 badly. Two other sticks of the same stuff
work fine.
Is there anything other than this stick being bad that...

266 DDR clock speed with P4 1.80a (Northwood) by
Guy Dallaire
I must admit that I'm a little confused....
I bought a brand new motherboard yesterday (DFI PS83BL) and along with it,
PC3200/DDR400 RAM. I specified to the vendor that I wanted upgradealbility.
The processor is a pentium 4 1.80a "northwood". On the processor box, it
says, 400mhz FSB.
I taught...

2D performance ATI compared to Matrox by
Jo Vermeulen
Hi,
I recently upgraded my monitor to an iiyama 22 inch Diamnondtron
(HM204DT, Vision Master Pro 514). I'm really satisfied about it.
The only thing that bothers me is a fuzzy image at high resolutions at
high refresh rates (currently 1600 x 1200 @ 85 Hz). The image is
significantly more crisp at...

2D Power Consumption on 3D Graphics Cards by
[email protected]
Hullooo, Folks!
A wee query regarding graphics cards:
Anyone know if the big power-hungry NVIDIA / ATI beasties scale back
their power consumption when outputting in 2D mode? Or do they just
carry on watt-gobbling regardless?
For eg: Many hardware review sites have graphs that show...

my camera (samsung v70) it did work once and then stopped working. Does...

2nd Graphics card? by
Bill[_24_]
Hi All,
I've added a second graphics card in a spare PCI slot on my 4+ year old Mesh
Matrix (A7N8X) and it has become the default and if the monitor is left in
the previous AGP card there is no signal.
I suspect I need to do something in the BIOS but haven't got a clue what.
Can anyone advise...
