CD RW no longer recoginized by Dave C.
I have a Dell 8300, P4, XP, SP2, and the system no longer finds my CD neither on restart or cold boot. It does not show up on my computer or explorer and inserting a CD, it is just dead. Just prior to that, I connected my daughter's Fuji camera (via USB), and it did not show up as a removable...

CD tray won't open by Ampersand
I had a problem 2 days ago: I wanted to put a CD in my CD-ROM drive, so I pushed the "eject" button, and nothing happened, except for the small light in front of the unit who lit up for about 2 seconds. So I thought there must have been something in there, but no. When I clicked on the...

CD Writer Slows Drop-downs in Win2k by MSOL
Got a new computer with Win2k Pro & installed my old Acer 1832a CD burner as a slave to the CD/DVD drive. After a half hour or more of use, access to "look in" drop-down lists and the drive tree display in "my computer" would slow. Eventually, access would hang altogether, giving me a "not...

CD+R by Dave C.[_2_]
Every time I search for CD+R, (Google, Wikipedia, etc.) all I get is references to CD-R. I use the CD-R myself but chatting around the coffee shop, questions come up about the differences. (I know this has come up before many times.) Where can I find information about the differences if...

CD-DVD Disk Labels by Dave C.
A while ago there was some caution about using stick-on labels for CD's and DVD's in that they could have some effect on the data. I have some Avery labels I wish to use on some backup data DVD's. What is the latest opinion on the use of labels? Also, what is the latest opinion on using felt...

CD-DVD problem by peter
I running windows 7 and have a TSST CDDVDW SN-S083B ATA Device. Suddenly it won't read blank CD-RW or DVD-RW or DVD+RW, however it will continue to play standard audio CD. Bit puzzled, if it were a hardware problem surely it wouldn't read any disks. Any ideas? Peter

CD-R cases by Paul \(Erie\)
Anyone know the "official" name of the little colored CD cases for CD-R's? Not the ones that look like regular music CD cases, these are a bit thinner, usually have a clear front and the back is colored. Anyonw know where I can pick up a case of like 100 or so or more, cheap online?

CD-R is very hot by Mr.Happy
lately the CDRs I burn are getting hot. They werent cool before, but now they are real hot. I mean like baked. When a CDR (like everything else) gets hot it expands, then when it cools off it contracts. Does that damage it? Will it be readable? Is there risk of loss of data? Is this a good reason...

I have an HP PC, XP Home SP1, with a Lite-on CD-R/RW burner and a recently added SONY DVD/CD burner (both internal). I tried to add files to a data CD-R today that I had previously burned, and the Wizard does not recognize that there is a writeable CD-R in the slot. This happens with both burners....

CD-ROM drive detected by BIOS but not by Win98 by Doug Laidlaw
My daughter's computer has the above problem. I can see plenty on Google about the drive not being detected by either, but not this scenario. I assume that it is a Windows problem, although it happened half-way through a reinstall. Even the boot floppy can't see the drive, and refuses to...
