Does WD3200KS take either STA and PATA? by Joe S
ISTR a review which said that Western Digital's WD3200KS has sockets for both SATA or PATA. Is this correct? The WD website seems to discuss WD3200KS as only a SATA drive. http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.asp?driveid=196&language=en

Does WinXP Pro need drivers for WD2500JB? (250Gb) by Ian Roberts
Hi Ive just ordered a new 250Gb drive (eek!) Does Win XP require any drivers or updates to cope? I have a 6 month old MSI K7N2 motherboard so I'm pretty sure the BIOS should be OK with it. Is there anything else you think I need to know or do?

Does XP 32 bit support eSATA by Ato_Zee
I've a P5VD2-X mobo with OS caddy. 64 bit XP Pro, eSATA off SATA mobo header hot swaps. 32 bit XP Pro, same PC, eSATA off same SATA mobo header doesn't hot swap. So obviously the mobo supports hot swapping.

Don't get Shingled by SMR by David Lesher
A cautionary tale: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2020/04/caveat-emptor-smr-disks-are-being-submarined-into-unexpected-channels/ Buyer beware~that 2TB-6TB "NAS" drive you've been eyeing might be SMR Hard drives were already bad at random access I/O~but SMR disks are worse.

Don't trust WD rebates by Wil Limbacher
Don't trust Western Digital's rebate offers. For the second time in a few monnths I've had a rebate denied. The latest, they claim I didn't submit the bar code. I've got the package sitting here next to me with a big chunk cut out of it where the bar code was, and I was meticulous in taping the...

Hi, Has anyone successfully used a Cruzer (SDCZ1) with DOS? And how, of course. I've been able to use a JumpDrive (Lexar) with DOS; but not the Cruzer. Thanks.

Does a DVD-RAM driver for DOS/FAT32 exist for the Panasonic ATAPI SW-9572 drive? I would like to mount the DVD-RAM to use Ghost from DOS. Mine did not come with any DOS driver, though it came with lots of Windows software.

Hi I just got an old IDE zip 100 drive. On the back, it's label for the jumpers is split into 2 boxes, labelled "Not Drive A" and "Drive A". Each box shows three different jumper settings for how to set the drive to slave/master/cable. So in other words, there's six jumper settings on the back. ...

drive beat frequency in RAID setup, anything to worry about? by [email protected]
Hi all, I have recently installed 2 new drives to create a RAID 0 setup. Since doing so I hear this "throbbing" sound and am pretty sure its caused by the two drives spinning at slightly different speeds creating a beat frequency... (correct me if I am wrong) I have moved the disks about the...
