new AMD R700 - Radeon HD 4870 X2 info by NV55
The R700 - Radeon HD 4870 X2 product will be a single card that uses two RV770 GPUs. Unlike previous AMD X2 products which are CrossFire on a card, and Nvidia's GX2 products which are SLI on a card, the communication between the RV770 GPUs in R700 / 4870 X2 is *not* CrossFire. This will...

MSI Master2-FAR and Dual 244's dual memory channel questions?!!? by Douglas Crane
I have a dual 244 setup with 4x512 XMS512R-3200C2P2 memory, for a total of 2GB memory. When booting it registers all the memory, but when I look in Sandra or CPUID, is tells me only one channel memory. I am runing the 1.1 bios revision. Any idea? or is the configuration for dual channel memory...

AM2 vs. Socket 939 by Merrill P. L. Worthington
Have been taking a look at the AM2 processors. What's the big deal? Is there a major performance jump for AM2 chips? Clock speeds are roughly the same. Architecture isn't that much different. DDR2 is no advantage, is it?

Is there a difference between the same CPU running at 65w vs 125w? I see the same CPU on NewEgg with two different power requirements and I'm not sure what the difference is. Thanks!

Athlon 64 more powerful than Itanium 2? Plus Dual core... by \Guest\
I was just wondering if this is so. I saw a comparison that said it far outdid the Itanium I chip. I am also new to AMD. I was going to make the switch back when the Athlon first came out but I was afraid of change. Now that AMD has the mem controller on chip, that has peaked my interest. ...

Anyone got a nice article that compares the two? I know opteron is for servers, and fx for multimedia/gaming, but I'd like to see a comparison of the two, including value for money. Thanks Martin

Is AMD Providing the GPU for Nintendo Project Cafe (Wii HD) ? by parallax-scroll
It seems that Wii HD, also known as Project Cafe, is going to be using an AMD R700 based GPU. While old, an R700-based GPU would be *quite* an upgrade over the Hollywood GPU in Wii which is really a 12 year old architecture since Hollywood is an overclocked Flipper GPU from ArtX designed in 1999...
