freeBSD: Install hangs at /stand/sysinstall running as init on vty0 by
VinceV
Has anyone successfully installed freeBSD on a proliant 2500?
I have tried several releases of the OS with the same result. Thinks
appear to work correctly until it displays /stand/sysinstall running
as init on vty0 and then the install hangs.
The sysinstall application is supposed to launch at...

I/O fan for Proliant 6400R needed... by
Rick F
Anyone know a source for one or more Proliant 6400R I/O fans (I believe
it's part number 101933-001 based on an ebay search) in the Los Angeles
area? I had a power surge of some sort this afternoon and it seems to
have taken out one of my fans of all things and reset a few other
assorted clocks in...

Ancient Compaq Proliant 1850R Server by
krubb
Hello all,
Awhile back the company I work for upgraded a customers servers and
we inherited their old Compaq Proliant 1850R's with PII. What I did
was cannibalize one to add to another and create a sort of sandbox for
playing with (MCSE type stuff). The problem I am having is that I can
not get...

Enabling Network Port 1 in DL380G4 BIOS Enables Port 2? by
Will
Has anyone seen before cases where the network ports on a DL380 G2, G3, or
G4 get swapped? I have a G4 where port 1 is enabled in BIOS and port 2 is
disabled. You boot the computer, load Windows, and only port #2 on the
back of the computer works.
Also in Windows 2003, I see TWO adapters...

Thought I'd try here as I'm getting no help in Ubuntuforum.org...
I have a Proliant 5500 which is currently running three Xeon 550MHz
processors, I've installed Ubuntu Server 7.04 and it has auto detected
my setup and installed the generic i686 kernel (2.6.20-16 #2 SMP)
which as the name suggests...

Anyone have a DL360 G2 to sell real cheap? by
msg
Greetings:
I would like to find a DL360 G2 (or newer) cheap with reasonable
shipping costs (unlike on eBay); it need not have an HD or
much RAM but should have a CPU (and embedded 1000BaseT). A working
mainboard would be another option (with proprietary cables if
you have 'em).

DL580 G1 No Video by
Niel J Humphreys
I have a few DL580 G1s with the same problem and looking at the HP help
forums others are having the same issue but no-one seems to be able to
answer it there.
Basically the servers seem like they are booting - they power up and the
drives start to spin as the Smartarray detects them etc but...

Proliant 2500 PCI Video card question by
VinceV
I have 2 Proliant 2500's with dual PPro 200's and Smart Arrays. I'm
lookint to install a linux distro on them and will be using several
GUI applications. The on-board video is definitely not up to the
challenge based on my initial testing.
Does the Proliant 2500 support an add in PCI video card?...

Using a HP Surestore DLT VS80 Autoloader on a Proliant 6400? by
Rick F.
LC -- (or anyone else that knows)..
Can I used the above autoloader w/o problems on a Proliant 6400 w/o any issues? Just curious since
I've got someone locally selling one for $200 that was just taken out of service and I believe it's
in working order (but am checking that fact).. Also, if you...

Rack Rail for MSA50 by
Will
The quickspecs for the MSA50 SAS JBOD enclosure say the rack rail option is
3R-A5281-AA. Does this go by alternate spare or option or assembly
numbers? I don't find the 3R part number version on any of the price
comparison services.

Quick question for NutCracker... by
NuT CrAcKeR
To the best of my knowledge, there is no USB hearders on that server.
There is an easy way to check without a risk to your uptime: look at the
back of the server.
You should be able to make due with removing the USB support from the kernel
and recompiling.
Yes, you should have a 3200 or better,...

LC, or experts on the 6400 ? by
Phil
LC, or a resident 6400 expert,
I was going to scrap that 6400 (some of that Chicago stuff), but after
looking at it I didn't have the heart. It had 4 Gig ram, 4 550 Xeon cpu's,
not sure if 1 or 2 meg cache each, 2 raid cards. After doing some reading I
noticed an article saying the 6400 could be...

Proliant 3000 (PII version) Powerup Problem by

Greetings:
We recently acquired a PL3000 (PII version with the processor boards of
the same form factor as in the PL5000) which does the "ten flash
noboot" on the power supply (ten green and one amber flashes on the
top led).
We have two known-good power supplies but try only one at a time.
We...
