Solaris 10 on Proliant ML110G4? by
Heimo Hetl
Anyone ever tried Solaris 10 on a ML110G4 (Xeon 3040)? These are dirt
cheap in the moment and I'd like to have one as a test bed for some
applications. HP's bigger iron are certified for Solaris, but this
little box isn't.
(But hey, at 300¤ it is way cheaper than any no-name box I could get.
It...

Maximum Boot Device Size P600 by
Will
The P600 controller has a strange configuration option for each logical
volume that is used as a boot device. Basically you can choose between
disabling the maximum boot device size, in which case the boot device is
limited to 4GB or enabling maximum, in which case you are limited to...

Slightly OT question about network setup.. by
Rick F
Hi all.. I've got a question for you if you feel the need to reply..
We're working on a house remodel and we're about a month
into the project (demo is all done and framing is coming soon).
Anyway, I'm planning on running CAT6 from almost all rooms
to a central location in the house where all...

HP 349239-B21 250GB Hotswap SATA by
Will
The HP option number 349239-B21 is the hotswap 250GB SATA drive. If you
order using that number you can end up with Maxtor or Western Digital,
different spare numbers, and maybe other makes as well.
Is it really safe to build logical arrays with MSA1500 that mix and match
different...

Rack Rail for MSA50 by
Will
The quickspecs for the MSA50 SAS JBOD enclosure say the rack rail option is
3R-A5281-AA. Does this go by alternate spare or option or assembly
numbers? I don't find the 3R part number version on any of the price
comparison services.

Using MSA50 As SAS JBOD? by
Will
The MSA 50 JBOD SAS enclosures have some kind of high density mini connector
on them that mates to the SAS RAID controllers like the P600. Does HP make
any adapter that would allow us to use these boxes as a pure JBOD solution?
I am trying to set up a testing station for SAS drives, so I need...

Proliant 2500 not booting from SmartStart 5.50 CD by
Trojan Hussar
This is a thread I originally posted around two years ago, that time I
found a workaround, this time I can't figure it out.
I have a Proliant 2500 Dual PPro 200, 384Mb, 221 disk controller. The
machine will happily boot from CD and run Knoppix, I can run hardware
tests from UBD3.3 but it...

Power Saving Mode on DL385 by
Will
When I put a dual core 2.2 GHz DL385 into the BIOS power saving mode, the
system boots up at 1.8 GHz. What regulates whether the system will then
later raise to 2.2 GHz? Does this require installation of a Windows driver
to help the system hardware determine the CPU load is high?

Does anyone here have a Proliant 1850R running Windows 2000? Could you
peek in Windows Device Manager under System devices and tell me what you
sell for the Intel 82371AB/EB PCI to USB driver? Ours shows an
information error saying it cannot be configured because of our system bios

Anything in the front right corner of a Storageworks 4300 series enclosure? by
Rick F.
For those of you that remember, I won an auction on Ebay for a storageworks
enclosure only to find that it arrived damaged. The damage seems to be only
in the front right corner of the chassis which I think has no electronics
nearby, but wanted to get your inputs. I won't be able to use any...

powers itself on, all by itself by

Perhaps a primitive question to someone, but why does it power itself
on, all by itself .
I still use a bunch of the old DL380G1's (dual 1gig, 2 gig ram) and
recently started upgrading to Fedora 6. The severers are working
flawlessly, all the health stuff installed and that too is...

Agilent HHBA-5418 2Gbit Adapter with HP Proliant? by

I noticed that Agilent brands its own 2Gbit fibre channel cards, such as
Agilent part number HHBA-5418. Do these numbers correspond to any of the
HP branded fibre cards used in the Proliant systems?
