Disk mirroring question HP DL360 by groundhog
running W2000 SP4 on a HP DL360 G4 2 disks mirrored in case of disk failure - is just a case of replacing the faulty one and allowing a rebuild – or is other configuration necessary

DL 140-- any experiences? by Dave Pooser
So the price is frighteningly low-- $1500 for dual 2.4GHz Xeons-- and I'm afraid this is the beginning of the "HP-ification" of the Proliants. I've already pretty much resolved to stay away from any more HP/Compaq desktops and laptops as their quality has in my experience pretty much gone to hell...

DL320 not booting from ATA disk when SCSI disk present by moa
Hi, Maybe I'm just being stupid, but: We have a couple of DL320's here running Linux. No problem. However, when we connect a SCSI disk (array) the thing desn't boot anymore. We have tried reinstalling the OS, and the installation software sees both disks during the install, but fails to boot. If...

Have a New G4 HP DL360 2 x 72 GB SCSI Drives, using HP smart array software. Had a disk failure this week on one of the drives, so replaced it with a similar drive both same size etc, only difference I can see is the firmware version ( Different firmware even though its taken from another G4...

DL380 (G1) Wake-On-LAN??? by [email protected]
The embedded NIC of the DL380 G1 is listed everywhere as being WOL-capable. Using the system tools (HPASMCLI under freeBSD in my case) I can *enable* WOL, and HPASMCLI even reports that it is successfully enabled. After a power-down and -up again, the status is still *enabled* BUT it never wakes.

DL380 Event Notificaiton app crashes by just bob
When we run the Event Notification wizard on our DL380 G3, when we try to select events to monitor and click OK, the application closes and fails to accept the changes. When we do not make any changes to the list of events (leave the default which is all events), the service runs and will email...

DL380 G1 failed upgrade to Windows 2003. Hangs during text setup. by Jason
I have been trying to upgrade my DL380 G1 (PIII 1Ghz dual proc.) server to Windows 2003 old config had 18.2 GB Ultra 3 10K hot swappable hard drives in a RAID 5 setup. I started over with 72GB Ultra320 (was told they would be backwards compatible). During the text (beginning) portion of the...

DL380 G1... by Rick F.
Hi all.. Someone in my local area is selling a DL380 G1 (I think it's a G1) with a single 733Mhz processor, 4x18.2 Gb hot swap drives + RAID controller (not sure what kind -- perhaps a SA3200?), 640Mb RAM, floppy, cd,etc.. He listed it for $250 several days back and has now dropped the price...

DL380 G2 Without Smartarray by Will
Should the DL380 G2 boot with the Smartarray 532 daughterboard detached? In DL580 I'm used to seeing a detachable SmartArray daughterboard, and after you remove that you get a non-RAID SCSI controller. On our first DL380 G2, removing the SmartArray 532 we are getting a red light on power up and...

DL380 G5 - split backplane? by Heimo Hetl
I have a brand new DL380 G5 with both SATA (factory fit) and SAS (add-on) controllers. The drive backplane is connected to the controller with two data cables. How is it wired internally? Can I mix SAS and SATA on the same backplane, connecting the left part of the backplane to the SAS and the...

DL380 series Remote insight nightmare... by
Hi, Firstly, I've inherited this mess from the previous chief techy so don't groan too much... We've got 4x CPQ DL380 G2 machines and an HP DL380 G3 machine at our colo facility. They all have remote insight boards fitted of varying descriptions. The DL380 G2 machines apparently (despite...

DL385 SAS is Fast! by Will
We did our first Windows 2003 64-bit install to a DL385 with a single dual core 2.2 processor and 73 GB 10K SAS drives. The drives were impressively fast, and I was a bit surprised considering the toyish 2.5" form factor. We had the boot device configured as two 73GB drives in RAID 1+0. One...

DL385 With Two P600 Adapters by Will
Does anyone know if the DL385 is allowed to run Windows 2003 32-bit with TWO P600 adapters? We have one of these with cabling to the internal SAS 2.5 array in a DL385 and the second one has its external port attached to an external MSA50 2.5 SAS array. We mirrored the boot device across the...

DL580 Blown fuse by Phil
NuTCrAcKeR Just a side note on the DL580's. got two a few weeks ago and had funky problems powering up and never booted. Turned out to be blown fuses on the main boards. Both were surface mount type fuses but were socketed. Replaced them an worked fine. The only reason I note it, most are not aware...

DL580 G1 No Video by Niel J Humphreys
I have a few DL580 G1s with the same problem and looking at the HP help forums others are having the same issue but no-one seems to be able to answer it there. Basically the servers seem like they are booting - they power up and the drives start to spin as the Smartarray detects them etc but...

DL580 G1 power-up problem by Phil
Anyone real familiar with a DL580 G1. I have a unit, actually 2 units that power cycles up for ½ to 1 second the off and then back on. When I plug the unit in power light flashes for a few seconds then is solid. At that point all lights green on power supplies, motherboard has a green light, and...

DLT internal tape in DL530 by John
Although this is really a Storageworks tape drive problem, I can't find a better group, so: We have a Proliant dl530 running win2k advanced server. We also have an internal storageworks 20/40 gig DLT tape drive, which we had installed at the factory (3 years ago). When I went to change the tape...
