Comparing servers? by

Hi all, new thread/question.
I went to the local computer fair yesterday. Around here
they hold them twice a month, first and third saturdays.
Someone there was selling some Compaq 6400R's for
$150 each. They seemed fully loaded with both cpus',
lots of ram and lots of hd's in them. Another...

One of the other members got another P2-333

The PL3000 story continues. by
***** charles
Hi all,
Well I went to work on the ProLiant 3000 yesterday.
It is actually about 40 miles from where I live. I took
my newly SLOWLY burned SmartStart 5.5 cd and
a Debian Internet install ISO cd. I inserted the SS55
into the cd drive and fired up the machine. It booted
and I got the graphical...

What I get to p/u today... by
Rick F.
I guess I was lucky monitoring my craigslist RSS feeds for Compaq "stuff"..
I've been looking for some spare 36.4Gb 1" SCA/SCSI drives just in case any
of mine fail to reduce/eliminate downtime. Anyway, I almost bought one off
ebay last weekend for $40/shipping (~$55 total). So, someone yesterday...

Questions on RA4100 Fibre Channel Array by
Will
I want to direct-attach two different Windows 2000 or 2003 hosts to each of
two RA4100 controllers on a single Compaq Fibre Channel Array. When I
have two controllers inserted, how can I get it out of and active/standby
mode and into an active/active mode? What is happening now is that...

Troubleshooting my $16 server by
Guy Macon
Guy Macon http://www.guymacon.com/ wrote:
(Describing a Proliant 7000 I got on eBay)
I figured from the description and the fact that this is a recycling
business that the disk drives and RAM would be stripped, but was hoping
for at least one Xeon processor. I was right about the drives,...

DL380 G1 failed upgrade to Windows 2003. Hangs during text setup. by
Jason
I have been trying to upgrade my DL380 G1 (PIII 1Ghz dual proc.) server
to Windows 2003
old config had 18.2 GB Ultra 3 10K hot swappable hard drives in a RAID
5 setup.
I started over with 72GB Ultra320 (was told they would be backwards
compatible).
During the text (beginning) portion of the...

DL380 (G1) Wake-On-LAN??? by
[email protected]
The embedded NIC of the DL380 G1 is listed everywhere as being
WOL-capable.
Using the system tools (HPASMCLI under freeBSD in my case) I can
*enable* WOL, and HPASMCLI even reports that it is successfully
enabled.
After a power-down and -up again, the status is still *enabled* BUT it
never wakes.

Proliant 1200 Error 162 - System Options Not Set by
.
My 1200 keeps booting up with this now. It doesn't affect the way the
machine runs except that I have to be there to hit F1 to get it past the
error. This is undesirable as it's a firewall and has to be able to boot
all the way when it powers up.
I've checked the battery on the expansion board...

I am working with a local charity to try and revive a donated, 'slightly
used' Proliant. It's a rack config, G1 with the 1Ghz processor and fully
populated with 9.1 G drives (12).
The boot is currently set up on a Smart Array Controller (bios says SAC
431) and controls the first 6 drives fine. I...

width is 422mm for these machines, but for some reason Compaq decided to

How to Install One Driver in Proliant Support Pack by
Will
I'm using the Proliant Support Pack for Windows 2003, and I want to know how
do I select a single driver and install it from the GUI? If you highlight
one driver and selected the menu option to install just selected drivers, it
installs every one of them!
