EP45-UD3L: Support for 64-Bit Windows? by (PeteCresswell)
I'm reading Giga's specs, but can't find anything that specifically says 64-bit. Currently running XP and now I need to "Upgrade" to accommodate the latest rev of SageTV. Quotes for obvious (?) reasons -) -- Pete Cresswell

GA-8KNXP, how to configure BIOS for SATA? by John Ward
I have two Seagate 160GB SATA HDDs in RAID-0 config on the same board. First drive is mapped to SATA Port 0 and the second one is mapped to SATA Port 1 (that's on the ICH5R Intel Chipset, not the Silicon Chipset). I'm not in the BIOS right now but there is an option to I believe under something...

BIOS Update ? by croy
Mainboard: GA-M55plus-S3G When I boot my computer, the first screen of the BIOS claims: "Award v6.00PG". On the website for this board, I see BIOS revisions up thru F15B. I assume the "B" is for beta, but there is no mention of this on the page. I've been trying to update to the F14 version...

Building a PC - bundle suggestions by Phat_Jethro
Hey all, I am looking at helping my bro build a budget mid-range gaming PC for my niece. To keep costs down I was thinking of going the AMD route to get good performance for a lower cost. The last while I have been all Intel so I am out of the AMD and thought to pose the question to the...

Building PC, to floppy or not to floppy? by Scott
I'm considering not putting a floppy drive in my new computer. I have a LAN and the other computers have floppies. Anyone see a reason why I should include one? Thanks. -- Scott

Unlock AMD X3 455? by red floyd
I've got a GA-880GA-UD3H, and an Athlon II X3 455. I'm using a stock heatsink, and a 500W power supply. Unlocking the CPU reveals a fourth core. Given the PS and the heatsink, should I have any issues if the CPU is unlocked/

Configuring a mSATA mini SSD + 1 SSD + 1 HDD on a GA-Z77-D3H by Leachim Sredna
Helllo all, I've given up on my two hopelessly temperamental Asus P5W DH Deluxe boards and have embraced my first Gigabyte board, the GA-Z77-D3H, which is very basic but all-modern and notably has an mSATA socket, into which I've put a 32 G mini SSD from Crucial. On the first Sata port I've...

Looking for serial cable for ga790gpt-ud3h by robby
Looking to finally add a serial port output to my system. Do not want to use a USB to Serial adapter. Have tried to google and just went around in circles. Tried Newegg, about the same, unless I want to order from AU. -- Randy

GA-P55A-UD4 and hot swap SATA drives by Uzi
I have recently built a PC, based on the P55A-UD4 mobo. I purchased Antec Easy SATA drive bay, for connecting drives externally, and it is connected to regulat SATA. I need the external drive to be hot swap, while the internals ones not to be, so the internal ones will not appear in the add/remove...

Mystery Alarm on EP45-UD3L by (PeteCresswell)
I get an audio tone from my EP45-UD3L during periods of heavy lifting - sometimes intermittent, sometimes steady. Right now, running an app called HandBrake which is transcoding DVD to ..MPEG4 disc-to-disc, the alarm is steady. CPU use is pretty much pegged in the very high nineties per Process...

When buying a power supply for a motherboard do you have to check which connector type it has for the motherboard before purchase. I see that some motherboard require different plug types and wasn't sure if they come with different connectors.

GA-Z87X-UD4H: No USB Power? by (PeteCresswell)
In the process of building up a GA-Z87X-UD4H system, I notice that there does not seem to be any power available on either the USB2 or USB3 outlets. I have not tried the internal USB3 headers pending purchase of a 3.5" front panel to use them. OTOH, on my EP45-UD3L, there is power on all the...

Mobo Beeps w/HandBrake? by (PeteCresswell)
EP45-UD3L. When I run the video transcoding app "HandBrake" with "Normal" CPU priority, I get intermittent beeps from the mobo. Setting it down to "Below Normal" (in Process Lasso's scheme of things...) the beeps go away almost completely. Kicking it up to "High", makes Windows XP appear to...
