What processor for system build? by
MS
Hi,
Having done a bit of research, looked at what my supplier (who will do the
actual system build) have available, and decided on my price range, I've
narrowed down my choice of CPUs to the following 5:
AMD Athlon XP 3200+ Barton OEM (400Mhz FSB) (£90.16)
AMD Athlon64 3000 64bit 754Pin CPU...

Prime95 is stuck by
MikeJohnes
Hello.
I don't know whether this is the correct group to post to.
But I decided to use the 'torture test' of the program Prime95 to test the
stability of a computer but it doesn't get past the first test. It doesn't
fail. It just doesn't do anything. It says it's working through Test 1 but
it never...

Darren M Taylor
I have a p4c800e mobo with a p4 2.6Ghz CPU
I have 2*512MB DDR 400Mhz memory chips
When i try and use the overclocking facility in the BIOS (5,10, 20% etc) the
cpu frequency increases, HOWEVER, the memory frequency drops to 333
Anyone any ideas why this should happen?

ASrock Conroe E4400 Overclocking problems Part 2 by
Cornelius
Have finally got round to investigating the problem.
Repalced ram with Crucial DDR2 667. It will now POST to 256 MHz with
PCIE Aysnc at 114MHz. NB There is a PCI bus lock so that keeps it at
33.3MHz anyway.
DRAM timings are from SPD (makes no diff if not). These are at 255.8
MHz and a 1:1...

FAT32 or NTFS for WXP? by
Lou
What is the file system most game PC users set their HD to, FAT32 or NTFS?
Does it matter for gaming or are there problems if its all set to NTFS?
This is for WXP home and boot drive of 60GB and second drive of 40GB.
Was mostly considering NTFS because it can have files over the 4.?GB limit

Problem Overclocking P4C 2.4GHz by
John
Hi. I just bought a good cooling system so I can overclock my CPU. The
problem is that in my motherboard's BiOS I don't see anything about
multiplier. Anyway I downloaded Easytune 4 and 5. With none of them I
can change the multiplier. It does show the multiplier and says that
the multiplier is at...

Cooper or gold heatsink? by
Peter Hucker
I have one of those fancy reserators - water cooler. The supplied heatsink block for the processor is gold plated (copper underneath I think). I bought another for the 2nd cpu, and they would only supply the plain copper one. Now I thought the gold was better - that's the way they advertise it. ...

has VRM 8.2 which supplies voltage from 1.3V upwards.
