Graphics card advice. by
Morgan[_3_]
Hello folks looking for some advice.
I was planning on saving up and building a new rig at the start of next
year. However I'm sort of impatient to play Bioshock with nice graphics so
I'm thinking of just chuck a new graphics card on the credit card and paying
it off over a couple of...

Bioshock Hotfix is 97 MB! by
First of One[_2_]
http://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&questionID=29041
Ever wonder how a driver patch can weigh in heavier than the driver itself?
I guess it is in proportion to the Bioshock demo's 1.8 GB size (and good for
only about half hour of gameplay).

Repair Corrupted Install by
Johnnie[_2_]
I have an AIW 2006 PCIe card and the install for the video driver is
corrupted. The ATI remove utility fails and the uninstall of the Catalyst
driver says the install is corrupted.
What is the best way to nuke the driver so I can do a clean install?

Temporary/cheap replacement for a Nvidia 7900GT? by
Pickled
My current 7900GT seems to be failing (causing intermittant
lockups/corrupt textures/blue screens, etc). So I need something I can
use as a stopgap until the 9 series appears.
I dont mind what make the GPU is but its got to perform atleast as well
as the 7900GT it replaces.
As this is an...

ATI 9600 - TV Out Problems by

I have an ATI 9600 video card and am using xp pro. I am having issues with
the tv out feature.
When I play a video on the pc and try and watch it on tv, the quality is

Does Ne1 know how to force TV detection? by
Randall[_2_]
I've just rebuilt the system and with a 9800 AIW and the latest
Catalyst drivers, they won't see primary monitor as the Samsung DLP
(which it did on the old system). It sees it as a regular monitor.
How do I force it to detect it?
I does see the composite as the secondary.

Looked at the Release Notes: Don't see much mentioned about the x1950pro
I'm running, or any games I play. I think I will hold off on installing
this one and see what others say first.

which is better: ATI x1650 Pro or VisionTek x1650 Pro by
Mike B[_2_]
The main difference is obviously the 512 memory on the ATI, but the
VisionTek x1650 boasts HDMI and HDCP all over the box, while the ATI card
simply says you can play games with HDR and anti-aliasing.. They both appear
to have DVI connectors (which is important to me as I have a new dvi 19"...
