Vostro 2510 w/extrenal monitor and keyboard by
Trekman
I have had my Vostro 2510 laptop for about a month now. Finally I am
trying it with my 19" Viewsonic monitor. I want to also use my
Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse. But as soon as I close the
laptop the power shuts down and I get nothing. Must be a way to have
the PC continue to power the...

Inspiron 8600 Hangs Up in Docking Station by
Don[_18_]
I use a Inspiron 8600 lap top in a docking station.
I leave the lap top docked almost all the time, and use a flat screen
monitor. All my USB components are plugged in to the docking station.
Over the past few weeks, I notice that when I turn on the computer by
pressing the power button on the...

Formatting/Partitioning question by
MB_
I have XP.
I've just ordered a 1 TB external HD that I plan to use just via the USB
port.
Anyway, I know it will come with a FAT32 format.
I've done some googling and I'm quite confident on how to reformat it using
NTFS format.
Currently, I have a much smaller USB ext. HD that I was able to...

Dell PS/2 PC104 keyboard doesn't work correctly in DOS? by
Ant
Hi.
Do you happen to know why my current PS/2 Dell PC104 (SK-8110 model)
doesn't work correctly when I boot up DOS (e.g., Windows 98's) from a
bootable 3.5" disk or CDs? The keyboard's arrow keys don't work, shift
key stuck (entering numbers showed symbols, capitalized letters, etc.),
insert...

OT--External Hard Drive Recommendations by
Brian Smith
I'm looking into getting an external hard drive (1 TB if possible but would
settle for less storage space) and would like to get some recommendations.
The following factors are important in my decision.
1. Reliability
2. Ease of use for doing daily backups
3. Performance (speed, quietness and...

resolution of Task Bar icons? by
Trs80
The icons in my task bar are jagged and fuzzy when compared to the rest of
the screen. The screen resolution is set to 1300 x 900. Is there a way to
improve the taskbar icons appearance at the bottom of the windows screen?

Vostro laptop battery fact by
Ron Hardin
If you run two processors 24/7 for a few weeks on
your Vostro 1500 or sim. with a 60w charger, it
will not have been keeping the battery charged.
I'd guess the two-processor use takes enough power
so that the logic avoids battery charging as long
as it's in that state.
Discovered when after...

Optiplex GX300 Memory by
[email protected]
I have a Dell Optiplex GX300 with 128MB memory. There are two
sockets, and the second socket seems to have a dummy module. I'd like
to bump up to at least 256mb so that I can experiment with Linux.
Questions:
1) The first socket module says 128MB/8D NON ECC. I guess I can just
put another...

I recently bought a Dell 1525 laptop to replace my Gateway ML 6720. I
bought the Dell refurbished through Dell outlet and I'm very pleased
with it except for the touchpad. The Dell touchpad doesn't have
anywhere near the same functionality as the Gateway touchpad did. I'm
not sure...
