Freeeze during boot? Need Help by
[email protected]
I am having trouble with a new system I have created.
It freezes during boot at the XP setup window pretty much the first
time I power up each morning. When I re-power up it boots to desktop
just fine. It's almost like it is having trouble cold-starting.
The system has three hard drives, one...

spontaneous reboot problem by
Mark N
About ten days ago I suddenly started having a problem with my PC
rebooting, started from nothing to doing it very regularly, no gradual
development into the problem. Sometimes it reboots very quickly,
sometimes it will run for an hour or so without any problem. I ran my
virus and malware scans,...

which is the "C" drive? by
Geoff Cox
Hello,
I have a PC with 2 SATA hard disks in it (logical C and D drives) and
wish to replace the "C" drive with a new hard disk.
How do I know which is the "C" drive in the case?
I once before got the wrong and the PC tried to boot off the "D" drive
which then made the files on this disk...

Free Muni or other hotspot access from a sailboat?? by
Skip Gundlach
So, the world is migrating to free internet access. Even the NYTimes,
today, has an article on the subject, saying, in effect, "It's not coming,
it's here!" (The first paragraph, in part: "No fewer than 300 cities and
towns around the nation have taken wireless Internet access, or Wi-Fi, to

Graphics card won't sit snugly! by
John
I've been building a system, but the graphics card (Geforce fx5900) won't
sit snugly in the agp slot because the metal strip (where the monitor plugs
in) is too long and hits the bottom of the ATX case causing the card to
barely make full contact with the agp slot and it's been giving me...

PC camera at top of 20-foot pole, wired or wireless? by
micky
I want to attach a video camera to the top of a 20 foot pole and see
what the camera sees.
A Wired: I have an old USB camera, never used, and it won't install
right now (but that's a separate topic) Assuming I can install it, it
has a 6' cord. Is it likely I'll be able to attach a 20'...

Implementing a RAID System by
Chris Guimbellot
Hello,
I am thinking about implementing a RAID system for my server. I need to
install something external because of the lack of room inside of the
machine. What I am asking is what type of issues do I need to be looking at?
It seems that I have heard of RAID 'boxes' specifically designed for...

APC-Anyone else been ripped off? by
Jimmy
APC BACK-UPS XS 1000 purchased at Staples. 2002 model. I am also wondering
about the quality of products like this sold by this and other companies
mentioned by APC tech support like Fry's.
Now that this unit has failed and I have become aware that there is
absolutely no replacement battery...

Windows 2000 Pro file corruption by
Load \*\,8,1
Well folks, this one is a bit complex. Wondering if anyone can assist.
I was given an AMD K6-2 300Mhz Desktop with Windows 2000 Pro installed to
get it back up and running.
The error that appears as Windows 2000 loads up is:
The following file is missing or corrupt

So few capacitors on motherboard? by
larrymoencurly
I just bought an ECS K7VTA3 ver. 8c mobo and noticed that it has only
about a third as many electrolytic capacitors as most mobos. Has
anyone ever seen a fairly recent mobo with so few?
Before you say that ECS makes cheap mobos (this one was $40 at Fry's,
with Duron CPU), my other ECS mobos,...
