How to slow down CPU, and also get memory up to speed? by
Steven O.
I know almost everyone out there wants to make their CPU faster, but
I'd rather slow mine down just a tad - less stress on the system, less
worry about failure. I just built a new system with the ASUS A8N-SLI
series motherboard.
The CPU is an AMD Athlon 3500+, which is supposed to run at 2200...

Quick Launch problem by
-Nisko-
Frequently enough, I lose my QuickLaunch icons (all of them). Can someone
tell me where the setting is to restore them (from a backup)? I have over
140 icons and reconstructing them is a royal nuisance. If I could restore
just that part from a backup, life would be a lot simpler. ...

Help! Need boot manager able to boot to non-BIOS controller drives. by
Spammay Blockay
So I inherited a slightly old Dell Precision workstation.
It's braindead BIOS only allows booting from drives attached
to onboard controllers.
I had bought a nice new 3Gbps SATA Raid PCI card, and hoped to
be able to boot from it, but found that - although the RAID setup
code on the card could be...

The board's PS/2 ports have died.
If I overclocked the CPU to 933MHz, BIOS reported 384M RAM.
If I didn't overclock, BIOS reported 512M RAM.

Network issue on new desktop by
jlab13
Just built a new desktop and connected it to my network. My whole mp3
collection is on my laptop. When I make my "music" folder shared on the
network, it appears to work just fine. The odd part, is that some of
the folders appear as empty when i look through them on my desktop. They
are right...

I'm trying to diagnose my computer problem right now and I'm not sure
if it's a CPU temp problem or a hardware problem. I'm a relative newbie
when it comes to this, so bare with me please. When I go into BIOS, I
see two temperature readings. System Temp and CPU Temp. Which is the
important one to...
