asus bios 1.06 ? by
Skybuck Flying
My current asus P3V4X bios is 1.05.
I once tried an sblive in this motherboard and it didn't work.
Also the sound crackles.
I wonder if bios 1.06_04 solves any of these problems ?
Unfortunately the zip file contains no information about what is new or
fixed etc ?

Larry
I have an A8V/AMD64-3500 Combination with 1GB of RAM.
Running Windows XP SP1.
Two Seagate 160GB SATA drives.
Everything is great, except I keep getting "Access Violation" errors
running _some_ installers. Not all.
I cannot find a way around this.

Hard drive swapping on an A7N8X-X by
Robin S.
I'm trying to get my friend's machine running and have run into a very
strange problem.
I installed Windows XP Pro onto his Seagate Barracuda drive. This eventually
led to issues (huge slowdowns, crashes, etc.) so I decided to install
Windows XP Pro onto his Qunatum Fireball drive which worked...

Power saving with a P4 CPU? by
Peter Wagner
Hi
I've got an Intel P4 3.2 GHertz.
The most time users are working by typing letters and the utilization of
the CPU is 0%.
That's a huge waste of power the most time, people are working on a PC.
:-(
There's a way to saving power, if the CPU isn't needed (during typing or
so)?
There's an utility...

P4C800ED will not start by
Michael Hobbs
Just built, with a 3.0ghz cpu and 512meg ram. Pressing Delete does not
bring up BIOS so I cannot setup the machine. It ignores that and says it's
searching for IDE drives, then gives a message that I should insert a disk w
the operating system. Then after a couple minutes, the machine powers...

A64 Motherboard Choices? by
Peter van der Goes
I'm considering an A64 socket 939 chip and motherboard combo. My experience
with the NForce2 chipset is causing me to lean toward the NForce3 Pro 250
GB chipset. It appears that Asus restricts me to Socket 754 if I want an
NVidia chipset and only offers a Socket 939 board with the VIA K8 T800...

Which ASUS board is right? by
Rich Heimlich
My father-in-law is asking about a motherboard recommendation and I'm
thinking an ASUS board is the most reliable way to go (Abit might be
fine but that's a bit too basic).
He's a VERY typical computer user. Not a big gamer. Mainly a browser,
e-mailer and Word user but he will play the occasional...

Teamspeak with an A7N8X-DLX by
Kylesb
Anyone using Teamspeak with an A7N8X-DLX? I am having some "crackly
noise" issues using directsound and win2k and am curious if anyone
else sees the same problems. I can hear the noise using the "local
test mode" with Teamspeak. In essence, the mic input is unbearably
noisy using the directsound...

I had Windows XP installed on a IDE drive but that drive started to go bad
and I replaced it with a SATA drive. Now I would like to attempt to recover
the data off the drive if possible but when I connect the old drive it
attempts to boot from the old drive rather than the new drive. Is there...

Should I Do This? by
Bill Anderson
A couple of months ago -- some of you may even remember this -- I
replaced the 1.9 GHz P4 in my P4T-E mbo with a 2.8 GHz P4 that I bought
from Powerleap: http://www.powerleap.com/
The new processor works fine and I've noticed an improvement in
performance. Nice. I ought to be happy.
But.
I...

A7N8X-E Deluxe - Dual Channel with Three DIMMs by
Paul
I finally managed to run an experiment on the Nforce2,
to find out what happens when the amount of RAM on
the two channels isn't matched.
There are a couple of ways you can populate RAM.
You can balance the channels, by having 2 x 256MB
in slot 1 and slot 2 (total 512MB on that channel)
and 1 x...
