RISC or CISC? by
Justin[_8_]
Is the current incarnation of nVidia's latest GPU's closer to RISC or
CISC architecture?
Since modern GPUs have such floating point computational power, I was
think they're closer to RISC.

GeForce GTX 460 FTW work in a mobo with PCI Express 1.*?? by
PW[_3_]
Hi,
I can not afford a new PC right now or in the foreseeable future. My
present one has an ASUS A8N-SLI Socket 939 (I think) and also is using
an EVGA GeForce 7950GT (512MB). I believe the mobo is PCI Express 1.*.
I would like to replace that card with a GeForce GTX 460 FTW which is
a DirectX...

Replacement for 8800GT by
Terry Pinnell[_3_]
After much research and discussion in various forums I've come to the
(sad) conclusion that the frequent crashes I'm getting are almost
certainly signs of a failing or buggy graphics card. Anyway, I'm going to
shell out and buy a replacement for my 8800GT.
Wimp that I am, my initial preference is...

Crazy Game Mode Concept: Hold on to the crown ! by
Skybuck Flying[_2_]
Hello,
I just had a crazy game mode concept.
For example Quake 3/Live or a new game could have the following game mode:
"There is this crown" that can be picked up.
When you have the crown the meter starts ticking... and you are gathering up
points.

eVGA GF 9600 GT fast as the dickens by
johns
AquaMark3d benched this $120 card at 176,694.
Faster than my BFG 8800 GTO which benched at about 155,000.
I had not even thought about upgrading my 8800 until
I saw this on my test bench. Holy cat! And what I really
like about this test card is it is quiet. At post, the fan
is your typical...

Why AMD should merge with Nvidia
Comment: To save us from Intel
By Axonn Echysttas
TO QUOTE A famous expression: "there can be only one". Looking at how
things shape up for AMD and Nvidia, it's rather obvious to see that in
the future there can be only one.

Such setups can never work on the long run.
Way too little airflow... to the cards.
The cards will overheat and then the motherboard will die...

Is there a way to have 640x480 resolution on my old CRT TV? by
Ant
Hi!
NVIDIA driver only gives 800x600 resolution as the lowest option. Is
there a way to put 640x480 instead since my CRT TV is old (15 years old?)?
Thank you in advance. :)

Need to upgrade an old GeForce 8500GT w/256ram by

I'm needing to upgrade an old GeForce 8500GT w/256ram, which came stock
on a Gateway Desktop GM5632E, and running Vista Ultimate, on a 24" LCD
monitor.
I'm thinking the solder joints are starting to fail on this old one.
After being on a couple days, the display starts to disintergrate, then...
