An old question by
Norm X[_2_]
Hello,
I am repairing a netbook I love, again. Sorry to ask an old question but all
memory of past software was lost. The software I used (upon Paul's
suggestion) listed all 8 USB ports and gave information for each port. I
even found a better program with a similar name. Google search was...

Copy/Paste Fails? by
[email protected]
I am experimenting with windows explorer copy/saves to do backups from
internal hard drive to different targets: internal hard drive,
external stick, external mini drive all because I find the back ups
inconsistent, and even lose stuff.
My total file/folder size is close to the stick...

Multi boot under WinXP-32 by
Norm X
Hi,
I'm setting up software on a 32-bit netbook that I restored. The new drive
is a 32GB internal SSD from SuperTalent. New installation is always
rewarding. I had an installation of Android_x86 on a tiny 8GB Sansdisk
thumbdrive. Benchmarking shows the internal SSD is faster. After the...

Rotating/interchanging toner/drums? by
Micky[_2_]
Is it possible to remove a partially emptied toner/drum from a B&W
laser printer, put in a new one and use that for a while, reinsert the
old one for a while, and then change to the new one again? Etc.
This is an old Samsung ML-4500 printer, which was printing too light,
but consistently, I...

DDR-2 voltages by
philo
The other day I did a RAM upgrade on a machine with DDR-2
When I pulled the old RAM I noticed that one stick was rated at 1.8v and
the other was 2.2v (I think..at any rate it was higher)
It had been that way with no problems.
My guess is that the mobo cannot assign different voltages to...

Time for a new HD by
philo
It's time for me to perform a full clone of my 2TB main drive.
I'm thinking of HGST
just wondering if WD is pretty much as good perhaps the "black" series
That said, since I mostly work with large folders full of photos, if I

Need MSI Driver Disk for FM2-A85XA-G43 by
[email protected]
Oh me -
I re-installed my W7 Home Premium (X64) on a larger new hard drive in
my FM2-A85XA-G43 PC, and I can't find the danged so-called 'driver
disk' that came with the MOBO. Without it I have no internet
connection, as is shown in the machine's Device Manager.
I went after the drivers on...

CPUs by

Why would people still be building high end systems using the Haswell versus
Skylake? Is it a price or performance issue or both? I am gathering
information while trying to figure out how I want to build my first system
which will be way overkill for how I use a computer but I think it would...

Mother board with para port. by
John
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130711
Anyone know if this is the old style parallel port rather than the add
on card type?
I have an application that uses a dongle in the port that does not work
with the card type add ons.
Thanks,
John

After several hours usage kybrd & mouse input fail? by
[email protected]
No I don't want to just fix it. I want to *KNOW* the reason.
The USB-mouse and PS2-kybrd lose action.
It seemed to happen often when I plugged a 1.5M USB-cable
to my WiFi.
I use mostly X86:Linux:Slakware13 but some comp.sys.raspberry-pi
readers are hardware knowledgable.
Probably related, is...

Bill Bradshaw
Running WinXP Pro on an old computer with Barracuda's in Raid 1 that are 11
years old. I can hear the start of a bearing problem in one of them. So I
have to replace them. I have found the current drives on Amazon for $22.
Could a replace these drives with a larger size and how big could I...

This story ends much better than the travail of the first printer did

It's a small Samsung b&w laser printer only, MP-4500, with...
