OC by
Steve
I just purchased a 965P-DS3 v3.3 and a stock 6420 2.13 chip.
I am planning on OC'ing soon, but not during initial install. Can I go
ahead and install the stock Intel chip, fan and heatsink as Intel instructs,
and then remove the heatsink and fan at a later date, and then use Arctic
Silver 5 to...

Selecting Intel QST fan control does not present New Hardware ... by
John7
Hi,
A few weeks ago I installed Win2003 SBS for training purposes and turned on
Intel QST fan control in BIOS.
Hence the New Hardware Wizard popped up fine asking for a driver. (Bios F7).
Recently, I flashed Bios to F9 (most recent) and set all BIOS settings like
with F7.
I swapped disks and...

GigaByte GA-8PE667 Ultra, max ATA harddisk? by
Patrick Vervoorn
Hello,
What's the maximum size ATA harddisk I can connect to a GigaByte GA-8PE667
Ultra mainboard, with the latest BIOS revision I could find (F3 I
believe)?
Can I expect to connect and operate, without having to install any
third-party 'disk-drivers', a 320GB ATA100 disk?
Regards,

GigaByte GA-8PE667 Ultra, blinking power LED? by
Patrick Vervoorn
Hi,
I have a computer built around the mainboard mentioned in the subject, a
GigaByte GA-8PE667 Ultra.
Recently, I noticed the green power-LED on the front of the housing is
steadily blinking while the machine is running. Frequence is about 1Hz,
perhaps a tiny bit faster.
The machine seems...

965P-DS3 boot up behavior? by
Phil, Non-Squid[_3_]
My 965P-DS3 boots up in a way that is different from all my computers prior.
When the power button is pushed on, the hard drives spin up and the fans get
a slight voltage. After about 2 seconds, the rest of the computer turns on
and the fans get full voltage, and everything works normally. All...

CPU fan not getting enough voltage to spin up? (965P-DS3) by
Phil, Non-Squid[_3_]
Okay so this is a weird one. I have a 965P-DS3 and a Thermaltake Big
Typhoon (old one) with a 3-pin connector. When the computer turns on, the
HDs spin up, and then voltage is supplied to the fans and I guess the mobo
in general. The fan gives a little jump, but then stops short of overcoming...

Ever see a problem like this? by
Gregory Baxter
Hi all,
I have a GA-M61P-S3 motherboard and today when I went to boot up the power
led came on and the hard drive led came on and stayed on solid, no POST
beep, no splash screen. I tried a few things to no avail, then removed the
cover and moved the SATA cable to SATA 1 slot. The system booted...

http://www.insidehw.com/content/view/62/9/ I thought these boards were
supposed to support fsb 1333mhz (which is 333mhz).

965P-DS3 fan control app? by
Phil, Non-Squid[_2_]
So Speedfan does not like the DS3. Temps are reported, but they are fairly
useless without being able to control the fan speeds. Are there any apps
out there that let you control the CPU/Sys fan speeds from software?

Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 Revision Differences? by
Peter van der Goes
I'm considering the Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 for a new build, but I'm a bit
confused by all the rhetoric on the various revisions.
On Newegg, I see two listings. One is for Rev. 1.3 at $100, and the second
doesn't say what revision but is $130.
When I go to the Gigabyte web site, revision numbers as...

bit over clocked above default setting.
Thanks

Scotter[_2_]
Hi all -
What combination of BIOS settings do I change to get the CPU fan to run the
speeds it needs to run.
Right now it is always on 100%.
Thanks!
Oh I'm running latest BIOS from Gigabyte; version 11.

P965 DS3 OC by
Whifferdill[_2_]
As I recall, I saw a post that I think was in this NG; it listed the basic
steps to OC this board.
I've gone through the entire NG and can not find it again. It listed
disabling some BIOS temp warnings, and the basic steps to start some
overclocking. If someone would please point me to that...
