GA-MA78GM-S2H SATA Setup by
Ed Augst
I'm getting ready to assemble a system with the GA-MA78GM-S2H and a SATA HD
and Optical Drive. Can anyone explain the SATA options in the BIOS. I
don't want a RAID setup, but should I select native IDE or AHCI? Can I
install WIN XP from the SATA optical drive or do I need to use an IDE drive?...

Memory problem w/EP45-UD3P by
Ed Jay
I'm going crazy trying populate my new EP45-UD3P with RAM. I'm trying to
use two 2Gb, 1066Mhz memory modules. Every pair I've tried (Crucial,
GSkill, Corsair) fails memory test. I finally have it working using two
Corsair 2Gb 800Mhz modules, but I'm concerned with its ongoing stability.
I read on...

G8-K8NS Beep Codes -- No Boot! by
Ed Kemper
I just upgraded an old box with a G8-K8NS-939 mobo, Athlon 64 CPU, and 2 512MB
DDR 400 DIMMS. When I power up nothing happens at all except a series of
beeps, apparently continous (I only left it powered up for ten seconds or so).
These are long beeps separated by, say, two seconds. The manual says...

GA-P31-ES3G Manual Vcore Problem by
Ed Light
I'm overclocking my E5200, or trying to. I set voltages to Manual, Vcore
to 1.35, and in the Health BIOS screen it shows near that, I have C1E
and EIST disabled.
In Windows cpu-z and Gigabyte Easy Tune show at or near 1.25, like they
do when voltages aren't on Manual.
I have the chipset...

K8NS-939 F4 BIOS Warning by
Ed Light
Just tried the F4 BIOS in my K8NS-939.
I have 4 sticks of Kingmax Super Ram 512 pc3200 (2 dual channel kits) in
there and with F3 it will run at pc3200 if you set it manually*. But with F4
if I try that it gets a checksum error and resets everything. So I went back
to F3.
Could be it wouldn't do...

Does Speedfan work with the K8NS (non-Pro)? by
Ed Masters
Hi,
I am thinking of choosing the Gigabyte GA-K8NS for my upgrade to a
Sempron 3100+. However, being a bit of a quiet PC freak, I would like
a board with a fan controller that is capable of stopping the CPU fan
at idle (made possible due to the low idle power use of the CG rev.
A64 core and the...

Building a PC for my Aunt and Uncle for about $350? by
Ed Nuxters
Basically the title says it all. I'm obviously going for an AMD
processor. They aren't gamers, and will use the PC for word
processing a few spreadsheets and maybe a few kids' games. The kids
are no older than 5. I'm hoping to get them a 17 inch CRT monitor as
well - the LCDs are too expensive...

Failure of GA7N400Pro2 and GA7VA incl. cpu - PNY videocard the culprit? by
Eddie B.
I have had a second complete failure of mainboard and cpu. The first time it
was a Gigabyte GA7N400Pro2 with Athlon XP2700, the second time a Gigabyte
GA7VA with Athlon XP2200. In neither case did the psu fail, the RAM was OK
afterwards, and so was the hard drive, CDRW, FDD - and even the PNY...

GA7N400 Pro (not Pro2) problem - advice requested by
Eddie B.
I would appreciate suggestions about a problem I am having.
The PC is based around a GA7N400 Pro mainboard with an Athlon XP2700 cpu. It
has been used for about 2 years. Now, it sometimes won't boot (not
displaying anything on the screen at all), or when booted, will crash some
time later, usually...

GA-7VAX and onboard NIC failure by
Eddie Bromhead
Yes, I had the NIC on a VAXP-A fail after about 2 weeks. I didn't dream it
was the mainboard, and spent all day looking at cables, software, drivers
etc. It's a lot of hassle to swap a mainboard out just for something that is
easily cured with a PCI NIC instead. I've also had network cards just...

GA 7N400 Pro2 - Memory Problem by

Hi there,
I've been using my current setup for the past months and decided to
try out a memory boost. I've been running an AMD 3000+ (32bit) on my
board, with 1gig of ram (OCZ PC3500 Dual Kit, 2x512MB (I realise the
motherboard only supports PC3200 so it's running as such) and
everything's been...

I can never get the USB headers right by
Edward
I have a Gigabyte 965P-DQ6 rev 2.1
Everytime I throw together a system, the USB headers screw me up.
The Firewire wires don't - they seem to have more consistent labeling.
Not sure why.
But here it goes.
On page 28 of the manual the readout is as follows
