(OT) Everyone in love with Vista RC2 yet? by
S.Lewis
I'm just wading in, but I'm hardly impressed. Even after minor tweaking and
only a scant few security/utility apps added, it's a pig. Gosh, I guess this
means I have to go out and buy all new hardware. *snicker*
System is a "4.0" on the "Windows Experience" scale: (Build 5744)

(OT) For lovers of Trinitron/Diamondtron flat screen CRTs...... by

.....prices have gotten ridiculously low on ebay due to vanishing demand -
folks now preferring LCD monitors or notebook/laptops.
I picked up a new "22 Dell Diamondtron P1230 for $172.00 for a friend this
past week. I'm thinking retail this was (at one time) a $600/700 monitor not
so long...

(OT) FWIW Vista RTM update on Dimension 8300. by
S.Lewis
Apparently my 8300 didn't like RC1 or RC2 (or vice versa).
Just got a chance to install the RTM version of Vista Ultimate on the
machine and it's running like a champ.
No performance issues using the full GUI and toys, no driver installs, and
even a fresh download of the newest AVG 7.5...

I purchased a new T61 for a client back on 8/3, with an estimated ship date

Then, magically, on 8/18 the order was pushed back to 9/1 with no

I'd heard of Ewido but never used it.
That said, AVG AS (which...

(OT) It didn't take MS long to screw up Giant anti-spyware did it? by
S.Lewis
I see where existing installs of MS (Giant) anti-spyware continue to be
updated and seem to still obtain updates and whatnot.
Of course, some of us were stupid enough to "upgrade" (cough, cough) to
Windows Defender.
Seems buggy to me, the GUI is less friendly and I can only hope that...

A customer of mine with a brand new Vostro discovered her OE spell checker
