Best scanning manager program? by
T. Wise
I have an HP 7410 all-in-one, running under XP Pro. The scan manager
program that comes with the HP isn't very good, so I'm wondering if there's
a great scanning manager program (for documents and photographs).
Any recommendations?

Any idea how long it takes to scan one picture?
I don't want to spend more then $300.
Looking on the Web I found:

Scan Elite 5400 by
Mike
Need some information from anyone who has the Minolta Scan Elite 5400.
Does the Digital ICE work in 16-bit mode?
Does the Pixel Polish work in 16-bit mode?
Does the Grain Dissolver work in 16-bit mode?
What about other advanced features and using them in 16-bit mode
(e.g., image adjustment...

Do I need a pen and tablet? by
Paula Sims
I have scanned several thousand photos in and am now going to use
Photoshop to touch them up. How helpful would a pen and a tablet be or
should I just stick to my mouse? If I should go with the pen and tablet,
which one?
Thanks for your help

Digital ICE scanning software? by
Paula SIms
Hello all,
I'm going to be embarking on a long project of scanning all my family's
photos (5000+) and was wondering about the scanner. I borrowed my
brother's HP 5500 and it was nice having the autofeed option. Now I'm
reading about the Digital ICE software/hardware option on some scanners
such as...

Mustek 1200 III EP undetectable in any image program by
Raymond A. Chamberlin
In the past, this old scanner has occasionally complained about its
Twain interface after some scanning but would work again after a warm
computer restart. The lid-detect function always worked, though I
couldn't use it.
Now, suddently, using any image program, including the one supplied
with it...

Question on UMAX Astra 6450 Scanner for XP (Firewire) by
Jethro
I have spent a good week trying to find a driver for this scanner to
run under XP. Nothing I found (Driverguide & elsewhere) and
downloaded works.
I do find a comment or two saying that the individuals could never get
their 6450 to run under XP.
I also find several sources that are ready and...

2 USB scanners in XP, need workaround by
david
hi all,
understood that XP doesn't suppot 2 USB scanners, unfortunately too
late for me since I have already purchased the 2nd one and will need
both, one for dedicated scanning and one for casual scanning and
printing (all-in-one). I can currently plug and unplug the device and
reboot to switch...

Epson V10 and V100 by
RSKT
Hi
I upgrade my scanner to an Epson V10 because I needed a low cost solution to
scan my 35mm film into digital images.
But to my horror, it took 12min at medium quality to scan 1 strip alone. I'm
wondering if this is "normal" speed and whether I can do much better with
the more costly V100 or...

emulsion side down and histograms by
Linda
Hello,
I have two questions.
When scanning 35mm or 4x5s does the emulsion side go down? Is there a
rule for this? I thought it went down but my scans are mirrored and I
get different results when emulsion is up or down.
Is it better to adjust the levels (histogram) with the scanning
software or...

Scanning 35mm Slides by
MATT WILLIAMS
In the past Costco has been able to scan my slides and make prints and
enlargements for a very reasonable cost about three dollars for a 12X18.
They have a new processing machine which has done a great job on my Digital
Enlargements and my own medium format scans that I do on my old Epson 2450.

Archival scans, 48bit, Nikon Coolscan 5000 ED, ? Gamma 1.0 ? by
Gary Whitehead
Hi All,
I wish to scan ~3-4000 slides, for two reasons, one to have the images
available electronically but mainly to have a safe archive/backup of the
images (most of these slides cover the period when I used to work for the
British Antarctic Survey, are c20 years old and I would be gutted if I...

Which dpi? by

G'day
Now that I've got my Canon scanner operational again, I've been having
some discussion regarding dpi and wondering what people here suggest?
The main group of photos in this project are 3.5 inch x 5.5 inch with a
few around 6 x 8 inch but all are around 50 year old B&W prints that
have been...
