Opteron 165 motherboard recommendation? by
I'[email protected]
Hi--
I'm putting together a system around an Opteron 165--didn't arrive
yet, so I guess I won't know the flavor until I can see the number on
it. I need a motherboard that will overclock nicely, but nothing fancy
for video or storage. It's just regular home office stuff with
occasional video...

Windows XP pro x64 by
Schism
Are all versions based on Windows 2003 server? Apparently logitech
doesn't have mouseware for Windows 2003 and I can't get the Logitech
MX510 extra buttons to work correctly, I tried using the old XP drivers
but they refuse to install and I have no idea why Logitech isn't
putting out the mouseware...

Asus A8R-MVP compatible with an Opteron 144 Socket 939? by
Caveat Emptor
The Asus support site (
http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx?SLanguage=en-us )
does not list the Opteron 144 as being compatible, but lists the
Opteron 146 (Opetron 146 RevE Socket 939) as compatible. Lists the
Opteron 146 separately (I assume that is the Socket 940)
Does not...

starting to outgrow these 1 - 2 ghz machines...So I am planning on going
with the newer 64bit motherboards & cpu's.

FAQ on overclocking Asus mb - Auto vs. Standard vs. Adaptive by
John Smith
Can anyone explain the mechanics of operation of Asus' overclocking scheme.
The bios definitions are skimpy and I would like to know what I am doing
first:
1. What is the difference between "Auto", "Standard" and "Adaptive
Overclocking". Right now my system is set to "auto" - what does that mean.
