For Trade: Athlon 1.4 266 FSB for 200 FSB by
Brandon Jones
I recently bought an Athlon 1.4 ghz CPU model no. A1400AMS3C. I assumed
(incorrectly) that my motherboard (a Gigabyte GA-7ZX) would support the 266
FSB as well as the 200, but it doesn't, leaving me with a processor that
only reads at 1.05 ghz. I would like to trade this CPU with the 200...

Help identifying K7 1.2 ghz specs. by
Brett
I have an AMD Ahtlon 1.2 Ghz x86 cpu. I think it is a k7. Not sure if it
has 3D Now and what the cache size is. All I have is the chip with no type
of cover. The chip is on silicon with its pins. I believe the cover, which
usually displays additional info, was taken off for a heat sink. The...

Cooler Master Jet 7+ vs. ThermalTake Silent Boost K7 by
Brett Tyre
With this summer heat, I'm having some serious heat issues with my XP 3000+.
I'm reaching 73.5C under load (Painkiller game) after ~45 min using the
stock AMD heatsink/fan. From the reviews I've looked at, either the Cooler
Master Jet 7+ (the all copper one) or the ThermalTake Silent Boost...

Changing CPU Speeds by
Brett Tyre
I've just finished setting up my Athlon XP 3000+ system. A week ago, my
BIOS read the CP as 2167MHz. Today, I had some massive trouble installing
Windows XP Pro, and finally had to grab another copy of it. Now, both
Windows and my BIOS read the CPUas1743 MHz. Everything else runs fine.
The...

Idle temps by
Brett Tyre
I ended up getting an Athlon XP 3000+ due to the simple lack of availability
of the 3200+ in my area (special order only).
I set the basic system up last night (m/b, ram, video card) and put it in
the case (Thermaltake Xaser VM2000).
BIOS reads the the CPU idle temp as 46-47C;. it seems to hold...

XP 3000+ vs XP 3200+ by
Brett Tyre
I'm in the beginning stages of building myself a new gaming system and I am
torn between getting the XP 3000+ processor or the higher-end 3200+.
My problems lies in the fact that aside from being $150 more expensive, the
3200+ is very hard to find in my area and mail-order would be...

Dead 9800 XT? by
Brett Tyre
(Also posted in the ATI newsgroup).
I recently replaced a dead motherboard in my system. Prior to the
motherboard dying, my Radeon 9800XT had been working fine. After replacing
the motherboard, I noticed the Windows XP "Programs" menu would appear very
slowly and disappear slowly. I noticed...

Damaged CPU by
Brian
Greetings,
I recently purchased a 2500+ Barton. My motherboard would not post so
I tried my old AMD processor for verification on a bad motherboard.
I was having trouble removing the heat sink so I had someone help me
by using a small screwdriver to pull outward on the clip so it...

Thunderbird and fsb by
Brook
I've got an early socket a Athlon that uses 100 MHz front side bus. I
read somewhere that the Thunderbird becomes unstable beyond 150MHz fsb.
Is this true? I thought cpus didn't care much about the external memory
speed. I think my motherboard is stuffed and would be happy to get a new
motherboard...

Athlon XP, memory, bios problem. by
Bruce
I have an Athlon XP 1700 CPU with 512 mb of PC 2700 memory that ran at 1.4
mhz just fine until today. That was what was originally installed and that's
what all system settings in Windows XP showed.
Then, I installed a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card and drivers today --
and it works fine. I'm...

New problem: Start-up w/Athon by
bruce hight
A day ago I got some help with my computer problem after I installed a
Turtle Beach Santa Cruz soundcard. Those suggestions helped, at least at
first, but now I'm in a new nightmare. The problems are probably related,
but I'm not sure how.
Here's the immediate problem: The computer freezes within...

Advice/ideas/info please CPUs Athlon64 v P4 by
Bruce M. Whealton
Hi all,
I've been approved for funding to start a web design and hosting
business. It's a good thing I have gotten assistance as the costs of
startup are higher and the growth of opportunities, i.e. income, is slow in
coming. Anyway, part of what was approved, and I am lucky in this...

NO as in "NO" power supply is ever TOO big.. You can only ever have a
power supply which is too small (not enough output)...
I have an XP2000+ with the usual other things that a PC has, and I...

USB/Firewire combo card problem by
Bruin
Sorry, I am a bit long winded!
A couple months ago I purchased a USB/Firewire combo card from Newegg.com.
As follows:
Koutech IO-FUTURE IO-PFU330 FIREWIRE/1394 + usb 2.0 COMBO PCI OEM
Installed it & it ran great. I used it for an external hard drive, flash
drive, mouse, no problems at all. I was...

So....!? What's the value/speed deal right now? by
Bruin
My first big upgrade was a 200mgz to a Celeron 300A that I clocked to 450.
That was a DEAL & I loved the performance. I was happy for a while.
Then it was a flip-chip P3 600 clocked at 800. I was happy.
Then P4s came out, over-priced, neutered, & I jumped ship to AMD & got an
1800+ but ran it...
