Thuban compatibility with AM2+ Motherboards by
AGross
I would like to ask subscribers to report in this thread links to
attempts to use AMD Phenom X6 (Thuban Core) in AM2+ motherboards with
the following chipsets: 790FX + SB600, 790FX + SB750 and 790GX +
SB750.
Are there any AMD people here who can provide insight into real
backwards compatibility...

AMD/P4 and Mobo questions by
J
Hey all,
This may seem ignorant, but I have a bunch of questions that a lot of you
would probably
be able to answer very easily for me.
I am looking to build a computer for a friend, as I know more about this
stuff than he does, but
I am not nearly caught up on hardware as I'd like to be.

Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe by
Bosconian
I'm seriously considering purchasing an Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe, paired with
an Athlon 64 4000 90nm rev. Before pulling the trigger, does anyone have any
strong objections to this mobo? What about SATA2 support (and does SATA2
even make that much of a difference)?
Thanks in advance.

Venice vs Onleans by
RDN
I so badly wish to upgrade my current system.
- Abit KR7A w/ AMD Athlon 1700+
- Seagate 20 gig HD
- Maxtor 40 gig external encloser backup USB 1.1
This system has functioned incredibly well over
the last four years since I built it.
But, I would like to take advantage of all the latest technology

Is AMD64 X2 4200+ a 64bit processor? by
shikari shambu
Hi,
I have a HP Pavilion a1357c which has AMD64 X2 4200+ processor. My
understanding is that it is a 64bit processor.
My machine is running Windows XP Media Center edition. I am thinking
of upgrading to Vista 64bit Ultimate.
In reviewing the requirements for 64bit Ultimate, Microsoft says...

Phenom 2 955BE 4 core? by
Peter Geddes
I have an AMD PhenomII X4 955 Black Edition and this is a 4 core processor?
I have run CPUZ 1.54 64 bit and it says that the processor is running 2
cores and 2 threads. I thought that this was meant to be a 4 core CPU?
I have run CineBench 11 and it says it is 2 core 2 Threads also.
Is this...

Advice Please by
Mark D. Miller
I've got a good running Intel-based system (P4 3.0 on and Intel 875PBZ main
board, a gig of OCZ RAM and an ATI 9500 PRO 128 Mb video card) but I've
become intrigued with swapping the board and CPU for AMD based setup just
because everyone says they simply run better. Hell, I'll take the plunge...

Newbie questions about 64-bit systems by
Humga
I'm a very experienced computer system builder :D But so far all systems
I've built are around the Athlon XP 32-bit ones. Never touched any 64-bit
stuff.
So could anyone (preferably those who has a 64-bit AMD and had used an AMD
32-bit CPU/mobo) point out the most important things I need to know...

Athlon 64 questions by
Mike B
My new athlon XP system just got fried..
I have some questions. I've heard the Athlon64 3200+ can beat a P4 3.2 EE in
most tests. Is this true, and is there any reason why one would buy the P4
over the A64 other than bias?
Also, i'm a bit confused now.. I see A64 3200+ listed at pricewatch.....

Processor Speed on HP Laptop by
Eliezer Bulka
I have a zv5000z with an AMD Athlon 64 2800+. It is capable of hitting 1.8
GHz. However, for some reason, when I left click on My Computer and hit
Properties, I almost always get a processor speed no greater than 797 MHz.
As usual, no one at HP can help me with this problem. Any suggestions?

CPU temp Monitor for ZNF3-250 by
Carlo Razzeto
Hey there, I have an Athlon64 3000+ sitting in a Chaintech ZNF3-250
Motherboard. What I'm woundering is, if anyone knows if there is an decent
3rd party CPU temp monitor program for that board. I tried out MBM 5 with
the latest updates but in only officially supports the ZNF3-150, and when...

Socket 754 on its way out? by
Cyde Weys
It seems to me like socket 754 is on its way out, to be replaced by
sockets 939/940. From what I've read it is already at the limit of
its capabilities, while sockets 939/940 have a lot more potential
left. I was considering upgrading my system to a 64-bit processor,
but it doesn't seem like 754...

when it is first turned on it says "No device found!" and then "BIOS is not
installed" at the start of the POST...
