Daniel Vonboles
Hi all,

for which you have no use any more?
Or has anyone got an older PC (Acorn, Amiga, etc..) which may house
one of these? I am asking as I really want to find one of these. If
anyone has access to one or knows where I can...

I put in a new 40gig Maxtor HDD in September and it's worked
fine...This afternoon my comp was acting a little cranky and I decided
to reboot it. It was going fine, the drive needed a check disk, so I
let that go. I checked back and it had a blue screen
"INACCESSABLE_BOOT_DISK" error. Rebooted. Got...

Problem installing 2nd harddrive on Windows XP Pro - device status code 42 by
Bob J.
About a month ago I upgraded my system with a new BIOS, a 40Gb Maxtor
6E040L0 hard drive and Windows XP Professional. The upgrade went
smooth with no problems. I then decided to add a second Maxtor
6E040L0 hard drive. I configured the drive as "slave" and attached it
to the second connector on...

I'm having a duh moment. I haven't built a machine in quite a few
years... long enough ago that the FSB wasn't usually a concern.
I just bought a bunch of components, including a Intel 2.8GHz
processor with a 800MHz FSB. The motherboard I grabbed only supports

Serial ATA hard drive confusion by
mrbclass
1. The Serial ATA hard drives I've seen on Newegg have the same basic
stats (Average Seek Time: 8.5 ms, Buffer: 8MB, Rotational Speed: 7200
RPM) as most other drives, yet people say they are faster... why?
2. Does one need a special motherboard to use them? Exactly how does
that work?
